Printer has a mind of it's own Spent a lot of time trying to figure out the right printer for my home office.Really thought I'd gotten a good one. I've spent a month trying to get this thing to print from all 4 our our computers. Will NOT print consistently-- only when it feels like it-- from strong Wifi signal:( bought the adapter cord to print via hard wire.Never worked. Sent that back. So freaking frustrating. I would like to send this back.

This was a complete waste of my time and money I purchased this product as I needed a wireless printer. I spent hours trying to set it up and connect it to the wifi with no success at all. When, after a couple of hours of frustration, I contacted Brother for assistance, they patched me through to a third party company that wanted $5 to even talk to me. I declined. Disappointed in Brother for not addressing this KNOWN COMMON problem ... Still the worst printer I've ever owned. Has a known problem with the paper tray sensor (a KNOWN defect look around online) Constantly says it is out of paper even when the tray is full. You literally have to finagle and find a sweet spot where it's a little over half full for it to print. Save your money and buy a different product from a different manufacturer.
Now the printer seems to be working fine. My rating has nothing to do with the quality of the printer, which arrived today. I'm writing to alert future purchasers that the Quick Setup Guide, which is the only document that comes with the printer, does not alert users to the possibility that, after downloading the driver, the printer may not automatically connect to your wifi network and thus will be unable to find the driver and then print.This is what happened in my case. Does Not Work With Linux About 20 hours over 5 weeks and I still can't get this thing to work with Linux Mint 18.2. The first peripheral I was not able to get installed on Linux (sometimes things are tough, I admit.) I have four networked Linux PCs in my home with a wireless Brother multifunction printer. What a waste of time Stay away from this printer unless you have the entire weekend to troubleshoot the horrific wifi installation. Be prepared to try installing with an old USB cable and wait for it to time out. Then try a second time, on a different computer, and wait to time out. Then try the wifi direct connection, and wait for the software to say printer not found. Then manually try to connect to your SSID on the pathetically dim display.
