You go to the Del for the history, which is incredible. Such an experience. I do think it could use a cleaning though, all the banisters were covered in dust and the baseboards incredibly stained as was the carpet in the elevators. Hoping with things reopening again they will have time to maintain the stateliness of this landmark. The staff was wonderful.
The room was tilted. The floor was uneven. The room was very small for the price we paid. I know it’s a historic building but for the price I shouldn’t have the lights go out when I’m showering and have to watch a TV that is at an angle.
Not the same Hotel Del! In the past, The Del was my “go to”. Under the new leadership of the Hilton, the hotel is really disappointing. I had just come from three other hotels in CA post Covid, so I understand the challenges. That being said, the other three hotels all received 5 stars. The Del ( which previously was my favorite) was terrible. We got there and had to wait in a 40 minute line to get checked in. They could not help with luggage and we were three flights up. The hotel was under construction which is a challenge. I wasn’t sure that was on the hotel information when we booked. We had a room that hadn’t been redone but was still nice. Overall the hotel is lovely. The largest issue is that the communication between different parts of the hotel is nonexistent. I asked the front desk a question about the beach cabanas and they couldn’t answer it. Free water bottles and friendly staff. The grounds are beautiful and the views are great too. the restaurants were a bit pricey and the food didn’t taste that great.
