5 star location, 1-2 star everything else… Hotel Del has spectacular location and an awesome beach within steps of the resort. With my recent stay I feel like this was the only thing I paid for. We are a family of 5 that stayed in a studio suite. The room was in the original building and unique in good and bad ways. The good was its old school with high ceilings and a different feel from a traditional room. The bad was how poorly cared for the carpet, furniture and bathrooms were. Property is under construction and many amenities are not available. However this checkin experience was very good compared to the previous reservation, room was clean and food was good, although service at Babcock and story was very slow and the pizza oven was down. Overall a beautiful property which should shine once construction is complete and with a few service tweaks.
We are older with mobility problems, they are under reconstruction and access to elevators was very limited.
Beautiful property with so much history. However it is currently undergoing renovations, so some amenities are not available due to that and covid - and there is a lot of noise. Also the service is hit and miss. For example on the Sun Deck the service is first rate, but check-in took forever and the staff was indifferent, providing little information about what was open and where things were. Finding your room can also be a challenge - think corn maze. The check in queue line was even confusing with conflicting signage, and ... read more

Better to know than to find out upon arrival We returned to the Del because we love it, and will return again. However, it would have been nice if the listing had noted the massive construction underway, and the many classical areas that were cordoned off. We did appreciate the upgrade to the cabana room with large patio.
