Kids very disappointed. Bought in June 2016. Worked through October when we shut pool down. Just opened pool up and got it going last week and it's no flow, not producing. Lot of money for something to only work for 5 months. Kids very disappointed.

Business response:

Dear Amazon Customer, We're sorry to hear you had some issues with your PLC1400 cell kit but are glad to know it's working properly. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us at feedback@zodiac.com. Thank you, Zodiac Pool Systems Manufacturer of Jandy, Polaris, and Zodiac products

Does NOT directly replace the old retangular box-shaped PureLInk cell. Nowhere do they warn you that the unions are larger in diameter than the unions used on the old boxy 2-port PureLink cell; the cell is NOT a drop-in replacement. You have to cut out and replace the old unions with the new ones. And they don't warn you about compatibility with an old back card. So I spent $520 dollars on a new cell that wouldn't fit in place of the old cell and then I spent the better part of a day cutting out and replacing a bunch of pipi... read more

Stopped working after 3 months. Bought this because my other cell went kaput. Installed it and thought everything was fine. About 3 months later my panel starts telling me that my calt reading is 19,000!! Had my water tested and knew it was a bad reading. Couldn't figure out what was wrong but this thing was junk. Wouldn't buy again. I ended up completely converting to chlorine tabs. The salt system has turned out to be more trouble than it's worth.

Poor quality - a salt cell should last more than 2 years. This is the 4th one of these I've bought in 9 years, the first of which (a two port cell) lasted 3 years and the other three have only lasted two seasons each. There's no reason that these cells wear out so quickly, even if our city water is hard - my pool installer states that he has had many complaints as well and now goes with another brand when installing salt water systems. Next time I'll pay whatever it takes to change out the entire system to someone other than... read more

Original item lasted four years. Ordered another here; ... Original item lasted four years. Ordered another here; had to return it because it did not work. Got replacement from Jandy (Amazon), installed by Jandy professional. This one is not working either (same error code: 123). Waiting now to get this resolved. May have to return this one as well. Not impressed.

The Jury is Still Out My first cell was the two-port type and lasted 6 years before failing. I replaced it with the PLC1400 3-port cell, which has lasted only two years. Just last week, the middle pin on the cell began burning...by the time I was able to turn the power off, the cord plug had basically melted. Bought this cell just last week, and was looking forward to a very simple replacement. Got it in, everything seemed okay...just wasn't making any chloring. Left it on boost overnight, and even after the first 12 hours s... read more

Expect to replace this every 3 years System works fine... for maybe 2 or 3 years. Then you have to spend $500 on a replacement cell. Yes, you heard right. $500 every 3 years. Shoddy. I was told by a technician at Zodiac that 3 years is "within the average life" of this system. Unbelievable.

Business response:

Mitchell says: As a pool service technician for decades I can appreciate your frustration. Sadly, what you were told by the zodiac rep is true. Three years is the expected life of not only aquapure cells, but all salt generator cells regardless of brand. Here's the deal; salt chlorine is a gimmick. You still have a chlorine pool, it's simply a pool that generates it's own chlorine. The "softness" that most pool owners enjoy from a salt chlorine generator is based on the salinity of the water, not from the abscence of synthet... read more
