We were very disappointed with our decision to visit to celebrate our 46th Wedding Anniversary. Service was subpar, zero recognition of our celebration, not what we’ve been accustomed when dining at La Strada. Things have truly changed.

Neighborhood is a little scary, food was average, and service was great. I don’t think we’d go back.

I have always,in the 15 plus years I’ve lived in Reno, saved La Strada for very special occasions. On last Thursday I invited a very special lady friend to dine there with me in advance of her 80th birthday. This evening was a major disappointment! I had requested a table in one of the “barrel vault” rooms as I call them, usually much quieter and away from the noise of the main dining room. We had an odd occurrence with our waiter. We were handed menus and as we looked them over the waiter came by. We could hardly hear him through his face mask explaining the specials. My son wasn't interested so he was looking at the menu, and the waiter for some weird reason thought it was appropriate to slam on the back of my adult son's chair 4 times. The waiter lied about our beverages twice. the lasagna is nothing like it used to be. Basically the same as the beef ravioli. He put the order in wrong then asked if it was ok for us to just eat the mistake. Too bad you can’t get a refund. We used to come here very often and now we won’t be returning.
Although the service was good, the food unfortunately was not. We ordered the mussels, mushroom ravioli, risotto and panacotta for dessert. The mussels were fine but the broth wasn't particularly special. The mushroom ravioli was probably the best although it didn't have a lot of flavor, and the risotto was bland and uninteresting. The panacotta had so much gelatin that it jiggled like jello and the chocolate sauce tasted just like that hot fudge sunday sauce you buy at Safeway. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great. The $60 ribeye steak was a grisly chewy unenjoyable mess. Been coming to La Strada for 20 years, but probably not coming back. They used to have a chicken picada years ago, but they got rid of it. I don't know why? But to send out that horrible piece ribeye to me is insulting. It was an anniversary dinner too. Went away hungry and left behind a plate of gristle that was equal to at least have the portion provided. Not impressed at all. There are better choices than this place with much better value.
