This was my second time dining at Rangoon Ruby's, and it was every bit as wonderful as the first time. If I had to choose one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be the Samosa Salad all day, every day. They bring all the ingredients to the table and assemble it there while explaining what each delectable ingredient is. Description: Salad with vegan samosas, cabbage, onions, cilantro, cucumber, yellow bean powder, fried garlic and cilantro. tamarind dressing with crushed red chili added to taste. It's just so light ... read more

I've been to Rangoon Ruby in PA previously and did not think it was great, but gave the San Carlos location a try on Christmas eve as there were not a lot of options on Christmas eve in San Carlos. First impression was the ambience was much more upscale and brighter than the PA. We had the Pad Thai, Garlic Noodles, Sesame Beef, and the Fiery Tofu. All were tasty, but my fave was the Pad Thai-just enough spices and tanginess, plus just the right amount of sauce. I hate my Pad Thai dry and/or mushy...this was neither. Definite... read more

Interesting, well made food that's unlike most any other cuisine. Excellent service, presentation. Able to easily accommodate my gluten-free needs yet still give my wife and I plenty to choose from. Crowded interior, but noise level better than you would think despite that. Expensive for San Carlos, but a definite cut above other nearby restaurants. Highly recommend.

From the hostess to the waiter to the manager, this place had exceptional service. I was so impressed that we were asked upon our arrival if we had ever tried that style of food before, and given an explanation as we were sitting down. Our waitress was patient and kind and had great suggestions for us, as we were new to the type of food. The manager came around at the end of the meal, joked with us and cleared our plates. A smooth operation from start to finish.

We had dinner here on Friday night and it was just what I was hoping for - tasty food in a nice place among other happy diners. Bingo! The place is small and the tables are a bit close together but the owners have kept the decor open and bright so personally The service was the best I have had in a long time. He was prompt, helpful and attentive but not hovering or overbearing and did not rush us. We started with the tea leaf salad which is what says "Burmese food" to me. It was tossed table side and was delicious. Then we ha... read more

Not quite authentic but it's close enough. Not usually use lettuce and there's too little of dried shrimp to even taste any. Also tried their palata, it's okay and their pumpkin pork stew was the best, I loved it.

I had been to Rangoon Ruby's in Palo Alto so was thrilled to see that they had opened one in San Carlos. I was looking to take clients out to lunch, and they LOVED it also. The tea leaf salad is completely addictive, and everything else we ordered was delicious. Our service was excellent as well, including the manager coming over a couple of times to make sure we were good. I can't recommend this place enough...I just love their menu and I haven't been disappointed with anything that I've ordered.

We had the shrimp kebat and the chicken curry and both were excellent. The menu has some very interesting Burmese dishes that I will definitely return to try. The heat levels were described perfectly -- 3 stars will warm your mouth but not make you scream in pain. The tables are a little close together, but they were not busy so this wasn't a problem.

Went for the first time last week. Lovely interior: very stylish, light and modern. The menu said that the tea leaf salad would "awaken your taste buds" and it was an amazing experience -- full of interesting and delicious flavors and textures. The salad is huge - it's plenty to share between two people. The entrees are served family style and we could only eat half of what was served. It was all delicious. We didn't try dessert -- no room!. Would definitely go back.
