I had been to this restaurant a couple of times before and really enjoyed it but that was admittedly quite a long time ago. I had noted on my reservation, I was taking people who had never been before and would appreciate a nice table and any extra attention, suggestions, etc. For starters, the temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold and made worse every time the door was opened. The food and service were merely ok - nothing special and, again made worse by the fact there were very few diners so there was excuse... read more
it was a terrible experience. It was a cold day an all of their many windows were open. My daughter and I were the only people in the restaurant and when I asked that they close some windows, they didn't. I sat with my hat and coat on and ordered the pumpkin stew with hopes it would warm me but it was nt servedt hot. The tofu in it was shriveled. If I had not been with my daughter who is easily embarrassed, I would have walked out when they didn't close the windows. My daughter liked her shrimp and prawn dish.
I booked a table at 7 pm. Then I called the restaurant that I would be 30-min late. The restaurant said that the table was reserved for me from 7 pm to 8: 45 pm. As result, I would probably lose part of my dining time. I said fine. I arrived at 7:20 pm only to find my table was at the worst spot of the restaurant. It was close to another table on one side (about 10 inch) and close to the front counter at another side (about 10 inch). The waiter had to walk pass between my table and the front counter all the time to serve oth... read more
I've eaten here probably about 6 times. Food has gotten much more boring lately. Spicy things are not spicy at all and most dishes while good just aren't special. It's fine for lunch but I wouldn't go for dinner again or for a special occasion.
Food is mediocre . I am very surprised with all the good reviews . Service was great and its a nice place but the food is Americanized and not authentic . It feels like they stepped back and removed the spices, flavors and spiciness of Southeast Asian cuisine . Disappointing as I had high hopes .
Mediocre food and service with attitude. The chili fish wasn't as good, rice tasted old/stale and the waiter argued with me that "this is how this rice tastes." I've been to the Palo Alto location, and it's much better.
Food waiters/waitresses did a great job, but the initial appetizer and drink personnel need an education in customer service. Never tell your patron they were at fault when the wrong dish arrives at the table, that's customer service etiquette 101. This place tries hard to be refined, but white table-clothes aren't the only thing that make you refined. In addition to sub-par etiquette, staff were constantly and openly whispering to each other in front of patrons, and we caught one staff member standing around, looking up at ... read more
We'd been to the Palo Alto restaurant and really liked it, so it made sense to meet friends here who lived in the North Peninsula. We found the food to be prepared about the same, so we enjoyed that (except the vegetable dish, which was dominated by onions); but: Seating more cramped No full bar -- only wine and beer (compared with the fun cocktail offering at Palo Alto) Service was MUCH worse - One server spilled some coconut water she was serving and didn't even apologize or come back and clean it up. - I've heard of addin... read more
I like the food at Rangoon Ruby and it did not disappoint. I took them down a star because we had made a reservation for 8.30pm through OpenTable. We got there before 8.30 and they made us wait and only seated us after 8.50pm. The lady at the front desk did not seem very concerned and only later came over and apologized for making us wait that long. Once we were seated, the wait staff were very nice and attentive and the evening went well.
