Food poorly prepared and presented, heavy oil slick on two dishes. Something crunchy (like dirt/sand) in shrimp lettuce wrap. Service was robotic like the waiter wanted to be somewhere else. Nobody asked why we didn't eat our food. They could care less! We walked out the door vowing not to return. Screwed at Rangoon Ruby. Wow.
Used to be a "Neighborhood Gem"...not now. Have dined here twice before, greatly enjoyed it, and left excellent reviews. This dining experience was a Sunday night . Do not know what has changed (management or chef or both), but food was mediocre, and not worth a return visit. Will search elsewhere for our future Burmese food.
It was my wife and I's 27th wedding anniversary and the hottest sept 1st in bay area history.When my wife called to make reservations she specifically asked if they had air conditionioning and the hostess said they did but it was running on low(?).As we walked up to the restaurant we noticed all the windows were open(not a good sign).The food was very good but it was so damn hot without any hint of air conditioning that it was too uncomfortable to fully enjoy our food.My wife started feeling faint so we ended up taking the r... read more
I love the food and the chain but the service was really lacking.
I am sorry to say, Rangoon Ruby has lost its way. We used to be frequent diners, but this may be the last time we will visit. The Tea leaf salad has lost its punch. It used to have so much flavor and now it is ho-hum. The pulata sauce has become incredibly runny and the chicken was filled with bones and cartilage. The sesame beef was chewy and frankly inedible. Must be using very poor quality meats for their food. Such a shame as we have loved it for several years.
We heared About alot but when we went there on my Anniversary Dinnr I felt no so good. Food was ok ok type nothing special . As it was our anniversary dinner we regret going there.
Our server at this restaurant was inattentive, curt and did not follow instructions. I have gone to other Rangoon Ruby's (like Burlingame) and had good experiences DO NOT go to this location!!!
We purposely made lunch reservations for the end if the lunch period. The restaurant was half full and they still wouldn't seat my friend and I at a table for four, even though we noticed they never sat a group of 3/4 at the tables we requested. They sat us in the back where there were loud tables. We couldn't hear each other. And they turned the lights out in our area while we were still there. We will not return. Too many other good restaurants.
The samosa soup that was served was spoilt!! We complained and the lady argued and took the soup back to the kitchen. At the least we expected to be served a new soup. We waited for 15minutes and asked if we will served a new bowl of soup? The lady said "oh! You want your soup to be replaced"... No one even appolozised... Bad bad experience.. Will never go back!
