It was my first time getting color and it was completely messed up. I had highlights all my life and ask for a simple blonde color. First, my hair turned to red, then they decided to put some green color to fix the red, it didn't help, and the manager said: 'Oh well, just come back in 2 weeks and we will try to fix it'. It was almost 2 months ago, and I still have red in my hair. I do not recommend this place at all. Highly discourage. Stick to Wella or Loreal and don't try any 'new' brands on your hair if you don't wann... read more
I really wanted to love a place that specializes in root color, but three things put me off. Let's start with the good - 1- My stylist was great and talked me through my options and put up with my waffling like a pro. 2-My roots and the rest of my hair are almost exactly the same color, something I know is so hard to accomplish. Now the bad - 1- Because the lighting is so strange, I didn't notice until I got home that I have two huge streaks of brown color on my forehead. The stylist should have noticed that and now I'm s... read more
When I first found this place, I thought it was heaven, but that I've come here for a while, I have had very mixed experiences. The good? Good prices, and theoretically the dye is better for you (though do a thorough google search and you'll find it isn't quite as ideal as they make it sound). The bad? The second time I wad there, the girl kept burning my scalp (like 12 times), never apologized, and when I mentioned it to the manager, no apologies from her either. The next time I was there was great, but then the next time, ... read more
I was hoping I'd like this place cause I live so close but unfortunately it wasn't a good experience. The colorist I was given, Diana, gave me the wrong color even when I told her the numbers my other colorist used before I moved. No one there offered me anything to drink (and I saw other customers being offered something). She hurt me on several occasions (pulled on my hair, etc) She basically didn't have the natural touch to work on women's hair. I politely let her know but it kept happening. And my blow out only lasted a ... read more

Two stars for nice people and colorist. Color got worse as the days and weeks went on. And fried. A step above home color. Tiny step.
First and foremost, the staff was incredibly nice. A star for that. But, my hair is orange now when I was going for blonde. They blamed it on the lighting in the salon, but when I got out in the natural light, it was even more orange. I waited a while to see if it was something I could grow to like, but it was all a waste of money. Not to mention I spent double what was originally planned because everything is so itemized. Disappointed in this product. Staff was only redeeming quality of the whole experience. Won't make ... read more
I had been waiting for this place to open for months. I dye my hair because I have lots of grays unfortunately (been dying since I was 18). So I'm always looking for a good, inexpensive place to apply the same color as my roots. I went a day or two after they opened. I had a very good experience. Staff was friendly. Price was right. But the color was too dark. And now I get ads from Madison reed on Facebook and insta and their "after" colors are all too dark and don't look good! I'm like--this is the after?? Great concept, b... read more
I've had an appointment here set for over a month excited to find a place that exclusively does roots & gloss. Unfriendly staff, didn't reach out until a day before my appointment to tell me that they can't color my roots because I have extensions(which is ridiculous because they are virgin human hair & several nyc salons have been able to color different sets in the past) which shouldn't be a problem anyway because I'm having them removed & replaced as it's the end of the set(which I explained multiple times). It took 3 pho... read more
OK, i was pretty disappointed. i came in with a little shock of grey hair in the front of my head, i spent an hour and a half with an extremely sweet and pleasant colorist. and i left with hair that feels like straw and very slightly less gray hair in the front of my head. the colorist colored my hair and left me at the "self-serve" table - which is a table in front of a mirror with hair dryers and a couple of hairbrushes that have lots of hair in them. basically, it's like a chinese nail salon. they do a quick and sloppy jo... read more
