Came here during Yelp Elite week. I have to say the girl who made the appointment and the girl who did my hair was super nice. Other than that it was a waste of my time to have gone there to have my hair done. When I made the reservation, they didn't told me the limitations of their color service. It didn't say it on their website either. Apparently, they cannot color my roots unless it's already gray (or have very light color pigments on it). I tried Madison Reed Color Bar for about a year. I was initially so excited about the affordability! I had been home dying my hair black for 9 years and will such a simple application, I could never stomach spending money on a salon. Since I first started going, the pricing has increased and payoff has faded... literally. My hair fades SO fast with this dye and on brassy/red spectrum which never happened to me with other dyes. Came here as part of yelp elite week where I received color treatments for free (I only paid for the blow dry). They cancelled my reservation 14 minutes after my scheduled time without any courtesy call (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/madison-reed-color-bar-flatiron-new-york?select=ibqKc55n_DlhY-XtYuedgA). Unprofessional, hair colors are so limited and there needs to be a lot more organization here. Everyone is very nice. Appointments are always a mixup which is frustrating. They really need to tidy up.

Not happy with my experience. Booked an appointment over the phone yesterday and when I walked in today for my 9:30am, front desk person never looked up from her laptop and when I said I was there for a 9:30 appointment with Cynthia she told me there was no appointment on the books (the person on the phone had also never sent me an email confirmation even though she said she would right after we hung up). I'm giving MR 1 star for the horrible customer service which I got today from their manger via phone call! How dare she tell me that I am cheating them out of money by my orders! That I've "found a loop in the system!" If I'm paying for my orders, how is she attempting to call me out??!! I don't know who owns this company, but they need to take a closer look at who is representing them!
If you want to be treated like a cockroach and get mediocre services, come here. You couldn't pay me to come back. Their color is quite limited but what was worse was how disorganized they were and no apologetic for not even having the appointment in their books after confirming a day prior. No apologies. Nothing. And the first time prior to the non-appointment, I said "not darker or browner" and guess what, I ended up darker and browner. It's a decent concept but far from good execution.
It was my first time getting color and it was completely messed up. I had highlights all my life and ask for a simple blonde color. First, my hair turned to red, then they decided to put some green color to fix the red, it didn't help, and the manager said: 'Oh well, just come back in 2 weeks and we will try to fix it'. It was almost 2 months ago, and I still have red in my hair. I do not recommend this place at all. Highly discourage. I really wanted to love a place that specializes in root color, but three things put me off. Let's start with the good - 1- My stylist was great and talked me through my options and put up with my waffling like a pro. 2-My roots and the rest of my hair are almost exactly the same color, something I know is so hard to accomplish.
