Selecting your color is challenging. The pictures they have just don't help and the stylist seemed uncertain about the proper match and made it more confusing. They need hair swatches for customers and to identify clearly to the customer (especially when they state that they want the roots to blend in vs look like a bad home hair job) the set of color options that are suitable to their color. Skip the balayage at the Color Bar. Stick to root touch up. I'm not totally understanding their business model. I actually color my own hair with their products and made an appointment so I could see how their colorist applied the balayage to learn how to do it myself. Re: East 18th Street Location-Excellent hair colorists-abhorrent management. I brought my 11-year-old here for a color correct as she used Sun Bum in the summer. It was growing out. This was a big surprise for her and her first time at a salon. Yes, I cut her hair it's the right price-point : ) We get there, she is seated, and has a detailed discussion with the colorist (who was very kind and professional) who would correct her hair. I liked this place for roots and generally everyone was very nice. Then the last time I was there for color and balayage, it did not come out the way I wanted and the person who did it was not very sure of what she was doing. She asked the other lady who seem to be in charged that day, if the color is coming out okay, the other lady just said I guess... Two trips to the salon and both times, the consultants recommended a darker brown color then I picked. Both times it came out too dark. No one checked on me during the processing time, even when I got up and complained that my scalp was itching terribly.Then they tried to take out the color and I said, please don't put that on my roots because they will be too faded. I.walked out of there with a color still too dark color, dried out hair and light red roots!
1st of all these "stylist" need to go back to beauty school. They completely fried my hair I thought this stuff was "natural" I've gotten my hair bleached before and it never became dry or fried. So tell me how a "natural" solan fries your hair??? 2nd of all they neglect you while coloring your hair they do not check up on you, and they didn't even wrap my hair they let it go in my face. Let me start by saying that I did not have a good experience with Madison hair color but a customer service representative did get back to me and did give me a full refund and was really very sweet and understanding. Somehow a month later I see on my bank statement that I have been charged again for a subscription for Madison read and that my color is on its way. I tried Madison Reef because I liked the idea of healthier hair with no ammonia in the color. I also liked the idea of having it delivered on a schedule. I've been using L'Oreal for years with good results. Madison Redd left my hair dryer than my usual color kit, the color was flat and there was less product in the kit than I was used to (they say to add a second kit for long or thicker hair, doubling the price ). I ordered Madison Reed to color my roots. The directions said to put the color on the roots for 30 minutes then comb through for 5. Because I was a first time user, I tried calling Madison Reed to question it. No one answered so I left a massage and never got a return call. I decided to do what the directions said and this left my highlighted blond hair dark and without any highlights. The product is decent but the customer service is not so you better know what you're doing if you want to use it.
