Get directionsKeep your loved ones, miles away from McKinley Care Center. They exemplify every horror story, that you hear about facilities. My Mom was there, and contracted C-Diff within a day or two of arrival. Additionally, she had maybe one or two nurses, who put any effort into caring for her. A couple of made no effort into making sure my Mom had a mattress pad for her severe bed sore, even though one was right outside her room. I am still extremely livid, about her treatment there, and wish I would have told some of the poor nurs... read more
This place sucked. After a month at Mercy Hospital for major surgery my doctor told me I was going here for 4-5 days only until my IV fluids were finished, then I could go home. Well, not so according to their quack doctor at McKinley. He said, after spending only 3 minutes with me the entire time I was there, that I had to stay two more weeks after the IV fluids to complete my pills. What? I can take pills at home. Well I told them to recheck their records and low and behold they released me the day the hospital had in... read more

Hi Patricia, I'm so sorry to hear about your negative experience while at our facility. It was nice speaking with your husband and I'm happy to hear things are going better for you. Feel free to contact me at (916) 452-3592.
This place was a joke! I could not get these people to understand that even though my mother is able to understand and make her own decisions that I was her medical POA and that I was to be contacted for any thing pertaining to her care. I brought in my notarized POA and they scanned it into their computer never to be seen again. They tried to discharge my mom without contacting me (she had a fractured pelvis) did they think she was going to drive herself home?! She is 71 yo. The food was horrendous, one night they served ch... read more

Nicole, I am so sorry to read your description. I take our care personally. We want every patient and family member we work with to feel cared for and honored. I am eager to talk with you and hope you will call me at your earliest convenience on the number that I left on your voice mail.
Mom was brought here from Kaiser to rehab back to her assisted living apartment. Upon arrival I was shown to her room. It had garbage on the floor. And surfaces were dirty. They had neglected to provide her with the Depends that she needed ... her call light didn't work. It is noisy, but that's not news for medical facilities of any kind. I had to push for any kind of paper work to sign. I picked this place sight unseen as it had 5 star rating somewhere or another on line and it is near where I live. Now I'm not sure what to... read more

Hi Patti, it was nice speaking with you. I very much appreciate you bringing this to my attention and I'm sorry to hear that your mother's initial experience was not up to either of our standards. As I mentioned, don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further concerns.
I wish I could give this dump negative stars! It breaks my heart when I think about how I left my father here for two days (because Mercy discharged him from the Hospital, leaving us 45 minutes to choose a facility that I didn't even have time to go look at it). I should have followed my gut when I first walked in. The facility is filthy, dark, stuffy, terrible lighting, and reeks of cigarette smoke. My father, who was on oxygen at the time, informed me that his roommate was smoking outside of the room (in a non-designated s... read more

Oh no, honey. No no no. Don't even. This place comes "highly recommended" [by the wrong people], but the Ombudsman needs to investigate. They don't have any processes to follow, which creates major problems. Especially when so many people are involved in the care of these patients and there's no accountability. After a friend was placed here following spinal surgery, they experienced memory issues and were acting in a way that wasn't normal for them. Requests were made for a copy of their paperwork for WEEKS. One person w... read more
If I could I would give this place negative stars. My dad was in this facility for 20 days before they finally had a meeting with his "Care" (HAH!) team. They told him that he could leave in 30 days. We were warned at the hospital that these places will keep medicare patients for 100 days, coincidentally when medicare stops paying, so you need to be aggressive with them. Well, on the 31st day, and days after no one would respond to our calls or inquiries, my brothers and I decided to take my dad out on our own. They cal... read more
Ombudsman might want to take a cruise thru this place.. not clean, STRONG urine smell. Bathroom was AWFUL and stunk BAD. I was a CNA for years. NOT GOOD!
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Staff was completely unprofessional and uncaring and should not be aloud to care for anyone. Patients are left unattended in hallways and a patient was forgotten in the bathroom for hours while I was there. I was there for 6 hours and received no medical attention or medication for my injuries. Upon my arrival I was left in a bed for 3 hours with no response to the nurse call button. I would have called 911 if I had access to a phone and was forced to take an ambulance back to the hospital the same day... read more
