I’m a brand new homeowner in the Prescott Oaks subdivision in far West San Antonio!!! My journey began approximately a month ago. It happened while out with beloved friends, celebrating my upcoming birthday. As we hadn’t been together in some time, we began to catch up. Oh where to begin…… Let me start this by saying that I purchased a Meritage home for two reasons. 1. The green build and 2. Layout options. My home costs were around $450K, which is a lot for a newly single mom of two, but it was our dream home and we bit the bullet! 2 months after moving in I notice one area with raised flooring downstairs, as I have wood flooring per my contract and what I was told by my sales rep. Closed on my home June 26 2020 I didn’t have a great experience with sales or their preferred mortgage lender MTH. Closing date was pushed back 4 times. Didn’t do a walk through until day of closing. Upon the walk through there was more then a few things not fixed or replaced before closing. Part of the deal made didn’t happen when I closed. I was very upset. FANTASTIC product - energy efficient - was ready to buy. Sales Experience - POOR. You cannot purchase virtually unless you are given the right tools, links, pricing, & information. Beware of waiting 24-48 hours to receive a response from the Sales Office, pricing increases overnight. Insist on in-person help & completing your application/purchase at that time otherwise you will be disappointed.

I purchased a Meritage home in 2013. The design center was no help at all. While they did come back and fix some things that were wrong, I have had other things pop up. I just noticed that they did not make the opening for the stand alone refrigerator high enough. A standard refrigerator is 72", they put it at 71.5" and installed a short fridge. I didn't notice until I was going to replace the refrigerator. I submitted a warranty claim and the denied it, said it is my problem. Another issue was a leak in the garage ce... read more

I was so happy to buy my first home at Meritage. However, my happiness was diminished when I was provided with a bad washer/dryer and refrigerator. I had specially asked during the offer discussion that I want a Front Load washer/dryer. However, the same was not provided. I feel the washer/dryer provided is below par. Although Refrigerator is good and working fine, it does not have a good capacity. To compare it with other appliance, Samsung's Refrigerator at much less price having better capacity and features. Built a home with Meritage in Dec 2019 at Deer Creek, NC and have had a horrible experience only after 3 months living in the home. Had major flooding that cost over $10k in repairs. Meritage's warranty department blamed it on us and I quote "our ability to know how to use a low flow toilet." Never been more insulted in my life. They have taken no ownership on their craftsmanship and even bigger, their customer service is non-existent. The lender, builder and realtor are all on the same team, they push for a fast closing and the lender offer this great rate. The lender buys down the rate, which you pay for in closing costs, it’s much higher than the incentive they dazzle you with. Your realtor you think is working for you, nope friends of the builder. The lender, owned by the builder. If you’re new to the game, you’re outnumbered and they know the game.

I love the floor plans that are available and at a great price. The sales staff were excellent, very personable and very knowledgeable. The execution of the sales contract was very quick and painless. My only objection is it would have been nice to receive a choice in a buyer’s incentive other than a credit in closing for using the preferred lender.
