Terrible experience. We were pre qualified with another lender, they forced us to qualify with theirs before going under contract. Their lender, MTH Mortgage, screwed up oour first application, had to re-disclose a new loan, fired their broker, then couldn't get us approved. In the mean time, our previous approval timed out and their actions dropped my score out of qualifying for a conventional loan. Do not buy a Meritage home ! We had the absolute worst experience with the Tucson office. We have purchased two New Construction Meritage homes and were ready to close escrow today on the third when we noticed that this home didn’t have a garage opener. We requested one from Jennifer Gonzalez and she said “Meritage has done enough for you are you done talking?” We were so taken aback by this response since the home came with the incentives it’s not like we knew about them or requested them. Please be careful buyers. This the the worst bulder in the country. i owe a house that cost 400,00. I had to replace 4 of my bathroon wall tiles because they did not use the proper meterial behind the tiles . so many of my neighbours are having the same issues. I try to call meritage, they are very rude on the phone and in person. The hourse defenitely look unfinished. I would never ever buy house from meritage. I wish I wasn’t leaving this type of review, because I truly wanted to love our home. And I’ve given Meritage so many chances to step-up and help. We relocated from CA to AZ (Surprise), and as a young family with a toddler and one on the way, we were so excited to begin our new adventure. We were originally given a closing date of Oct/Nov, and quickly sold our CA home per the contingency of our contract with Meritage end of August only to find out that our closing date would be pushed two months. Everything is up front and there's no guessing games . What they tell you is what you're going to get. I would say honesty has been paramount with seller agent and the mortgage company they partner with.
