I had higher hopes for this credit union. The website and app is terrible. Watch out for hidden fees. They charge a $22/month for checking maintenance. Closed my account as I have moved out of the area and it's not worth the hassle to keep it open.
If I could give zero stars I would. I brought a cashier's check to Boston to close on a house. Metro will not take a cashier's check without a four day hold. I have banked all over this country and never had a hold on a cashier's check. That is the point of the check - no hold!!
It's unfortunate to write this because I do enjoy the waived ATM fees, clean and friendly atmosphere at the branches, but my experience with the stuff that really matters was terrible. I have a mortgage for a house in Chelsea and wanted to refinance with Metro in June, 2015, both because of the lower rate and wanting to support the local credit union. I went into this branch and the mortgage specialist (MH) I sat down and spoke with acted like she was selling me a used car. She was dismissive of my questions and pressure... read more
Worst bank I ever have, website, apps never ever work when you need it, shut off your card when you out of town even tho you call to tell them you going out of town a week ahead just so they dont shut it off but they do it anyway,
I have been a client of Metropolitan Credit Union for decades. I had a 5 year CD issued om 10/24/11 which matures on 10/22/2016. Even with a CD that has not matured, the credit union gave my money away as abandoned property. I received two emails which I answered and called back leaving messages yet, they gave my money away. I am one of those people who encourage Credit Unions and I was considering moving all my banking to this credit union. I can't help but fault them for giving my money way even when I had a CD that ... read more
Okay, despite a few really nice employees that I've interacted with, I'm beginning to think that the "convenience" of banking with Metro Credit (near my place of work) isn't worth the bother. Took out a loan this week (several previously), there was a problem, the branch manager (who looks and acts like a freaking, emotionless machine) wouldn't lift a finger to help, just recited bank regulations to me. I went home, called Metro and someone else DID help me. She could have made the same call on my behalf when I was sitting a... read more
30 Seconds from going elsewhere. Although I think the service is fantastic at Melrose, to have the computer banking problems they are having in this day and age is just too scary. It has been ongoing for a month. I can't afford for them to keep screwing up like this.
In light of their recent idiotic decision to "upgrade" their online banking portal and smartphone apps, I'm drastically downgrading my previous review. The thing that kills me is that their online banking and Android app used to be perfectly fine! Now I can't receive e-bills for my credit cards through online bill pay, and their Android app is basically useless. I've given them honest and early feedback about the problems with the new systems, and have received only platitudes in return. I'm going to move my accounts as ... read more
The conversion and changes to its online/mobile systems are horrible. Metro tried to do too much at once... new website, new online banking, new security system protocols, new mobile apps for all platforms are a steaming hot mess. (Ref. Note: read the reviews of the Metro Credit Union App in Google Play)In this age of mobile 'everything' there is no room for mistakes especially at launch... especially when it comes to the management of customers' money and investments... and especially if everything worked almost seamles... read more
