I love going to classes at Mountainside Fitness, especially muscle classes. The prices are very reasonable for this clean, decent gym. The childcare staff are kind and take great care of my little boy. Unfortunately, I can only give four stars because the classes have become overcrowded, and many of the women are catty and disrespectful to others. When I was in the third trimester of my pregnancy, I had another woman in class shout at me to move out of *her* spot after strutting into class five minutes late. Another woman an... read more

Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to review Mountainside Fitness Scottsdale and so happy to hear you and your son are enjoying your membership. Please do not hesitate to speak with our GM should you have any concerns, or you can always write us at marketing@mountainsidefitness.com.
I have worked out for years around the world and I love this gym...HOWEVER I do have a couple concerns as a member. Recently I've noticed a real need of a dress code on the workout floor. I have seen a shirt with a statement that read "F**k Cardio", a man last week with exposed nipples and women (very few) being allowed to walk in with excessive cleavage exposure or workout shorts with the bottom of the butt cheek in sight. This is not the beach and being a gym with kids that go across the floor to the basketball court /hang... read more

Andrew, thank you for taking the time to review our Scottsdale location and for being a valued Member of Mountainside Fitness. We definitely agree that people's workout attire needs to be appropriate and it is something we try very hard to enforce as we want everyone to feel comfortable in all of our clubs. Please know that if you do notice particular attire that is inappropriate, please let our GM or anyone on our staff know.
Wow-so greedy. I finally got the energy up and nerve to start bAck at gym. I saw 5 day pass and printed out. I arrived today and asked lady at "sign up desk" if she had a minute. I asked her to please tell me the options available for sign up-told her its been close to 15 years since I was a member. The next words out of her mouth "you can't use the 5 day pass if you were a prior member!" I said really, its been so long. Yep she replied. I took offense to her pure business mentality -obviously she wanted to make sure she got... read more
Business response:
Candice, we sincerely apologize for your experience as our team should have allowed you the opportunity to use the 5 day pass. We recently implemented a policy that those who come on on a 5 day pass would be able to use another 5 day pass after one year. Your timing was obviously more that one year and therefore should have been allowed to workout using the pass. We would love the opportunity to make it up to you, please reach out to our GM, Mike Protega (michaelp@mountainsidefitness.com or 480.889.8889), or you can send ... read more
This is the WORST gym I've ever used, at any location! It is over priced and always packed, their unprofessional associates have less than enough experience. If you want to try and cancel forget it, they will steal your money! I am not one to write reviews , but after speaking with unprofessional staff at the corporate level and getting nowhere as well as not having a customer support service here I am. Consider yourself warned!
Business response:
Elisabeth, we are sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Mountainside Fitness prides itself on service and value. Our C.O.O. Mario Arce would be glad to discuss or potentially find a resolution for your experience. Please send us a direct message and we will contact you directly.
I am so glad to have found this gym. It's clean, affordable, doesn't have that meat market feel and there's a bunch of nice people that go here. The gym itself is updated and the equipment is maintained. As far as bathrooms are concerned, the ladies room seems always clean in the morning when I'm there. I like how there's always enough towels small rolled ones and large ones throughout the bathroom and open spaces. Since I'm a fanatical group exerciser I'm going to write about the classes that they have here: Pro: There is a... read more

Regina, thank you for taking the time to review our Scottsdale Shea location. We are very glad to see you are taking full advantage of your membership and the 80 classes per week we offer. Appreciate you as a member and please always let the GM know if there is ever anything we can do for you, Thanks again!
Great, local gym. Love the classes and plenty of machines. Teens love the weight room & basketball court. Wish they offered more classes and fitness classrooms were swept between morning & evening classes though.

Jenny, Thank you for taking the time to review Mountainside Fitness and for being a member. Keeping our facilities clean in all areas is extremely important to us and we will pass along your comments regarding the floors in the group fitness room. If there is anything else we can do to make your time at Mountainside the best it can be, let us know. Thanks,
This gym is hot as crap! I was a member, but not anymore. They keep the gym in the mid 70's. That's right... Mid 70's!!!!! A hot summer day in most places up north. Who wants to workout in that? They really need to crank it down 6 or 7 degrees. If they did that's it would be a great place, but with the stink of everyone vigorously sweating on the machines from the hot, humid temperature, I'll pass. Do yourself a favor and join any other gym that actually knows what Air Conditioning is. EOS keeps it cool, as does Lifetime.
I've been going to this gym since it first opened. It's gone through some changes. I used to consider It a 5 star gym but it isn't quiet what it used to be. Gym etiquette has gotten worse. It is way too over crowded with a lot of wait times. The locker room smell has never been and probably never will be resolved. With that said the staff is polite and generally helpful. But I think the glory days of Mountainside fitness are over, it's more like another corporate chain now. Until they raise rates expect a major crowd.
I would give this a better rating but this rating is purely based on Dylan King; he's a salesman at mountainside and he's extremely manipulative. Mountain side overall is an amazing gym, just look at their website or ask for a tour. The staff there are top notch with the exception of Dylan King. I believe businesses are ethically obligated to look out for their customers. But with regards to Dylan King, he thrives off manipulation and corrupt business practices most likely for personal gains at the expense of other people. I... read more
