MountainSide Fitness in the Valley is without a doubt the preeminent Fitness facility... I cycle professionally for Team USA , and I'm often at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. I spend crazy hours at all kinds of fitness centers when traveling, but MountainSide Fitness outshines all of them. It's far cleaner, the machines are far better, and the staff is far nicer. BUYER BEWARE- Check your contracts! I joined in July and was offered a deal for 4 personal training sessions as a newbie. I said yes and signed a release/ "contract". I was told that it was just a release. It was actually a contract for 3 months, but would continually renew forever if you don't cancel. My account has been charged for 8 months (32 personal sessions) and I only scheduled and used 4. I recently signed up at mountainside at desert ridge, and I came to the Scottsdale Shea location to go to a fitness class. My friend came with me and was thinking about signing up for a membership. Joey gave her a tour of the gym and after our workout we sat down with him to discuss her membership. Joey was so friendly and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. I am a member of Mountainside fitness and have personally worked with Casey K before. Casey is the most genuine, attentive, caring person that I've met with this company. There must have been a misunderstanding and Sam should never have posted this publicly because Casey is one of the best!
They have the worst cancelation policy - I tried canceling my membership well over (9) months ago and haven't been in since December and they can see the "inactive-ness" - over 280+ days but insisted in not removing any monthly fee's in between!! I wouldn't recommend this gym overly priced (and no bring a friend for free anymore) - yes go to EOS or LA FITNESS cheaper and better hours!!
I've been to many Mountainsides around the valley and this by far is the worst. I went a couple weeks ago and now I go to the happy valley location and it's way better. Now back to the Scottsdale location when I arrived the front desk was very rude to me and they asked my son to show a license so that he could get in, he's 14. He had no ID and they refused to let him in. I asked to speak to the manager and he rudely said if he had no ID he can't come in no matter how old he if he has no ID. Never coming back.
A great gym!!! Everyone at the front desk is super nice and friendly... tons of group classes ..... super affordable!! My kiddo LOVES the kid care... they have a bouncy house and video games. They even have a basketball court, spinning room, huge group room ( which they let me us when not in use ) and a barre and yoga studio. Honestly you get more than what you paying for thanks mountain side !!!
Generally a very nice gym. My two big beefs though: their elliptical machines frequently seem to be rough (as in needing more ongoing maintenance). I've mentioned specific machine numbers to the staff, but still the machines seem rough frequently. Second issue: gym is too crowded much of the time. Get the feeling they've oversold memberships.
I have been a member for almost a year, love the classes. I mostly attend Zumba classes, GREAT instructors. I find the only problem with the classes are some of the people who don't seem to be aware of a few important things. I would like to bring attention to a few basic dance facts: Never upstage the instructors. Never text while a class is in progress. When the music starts, please refrain from conversations. As for the sauna and steam room, we understand your concerns. We do have the rules are posted outside each in every club and we do clean our clubs thoroughly every night as well as we make every effort to maintain a clean environment on the floor and in the locker rooms.
