I started my refinance process in mid-July and was told it would close within 45 days. 45 days came and went with no closing date. After the 60 to 70 day mark, I sent at least 2 to 3 emails asking for either a closing date or instructions on how to cancel the process. It finally took me getting mad to get a closing date. The actual closing process went smoothly and the the notary that came to my house was wonderful. Not a happy customer here but glad the refinance is finally complete.
My experience was great because it was so smooth and easy. I was incredibly shocked at how easy it was and I’m so thankful. Selling and buying a home is a very challenging process, however, the lending process was a piece of cake, for me.
I was told one thing during the initial conversation but when it came down to closing that wasn’t happening. Then I had to fight for over a week to get the answers. I still ended up having to bring money to close which I was told I would not have to.
I submitted my VA rapid refi and it was supposed to close on September 2nd. The notary showed up with paperwork completely wrong. In fact, some of the documents said Penny Mac was paying me over $300k in closing. Additionally, the closing did not accurately depict my payment by $600. When the issue was identified it took 6 additional weeks to correct the issue. This was completely disappointing but if it were me, you would hit my credit. Unsatisfied and disappointed in the process and Penny MAC.

My overall experience with PennyMac was good. The closing date was longer than originally expected by 10 days, but otherwise everything went smoothly. Everyone who I interacted with throughout the process was helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend PennyMac.
