It really wasn't PennyMac so much as it was the disorganization between my wife, myself and PennyMac. I don't blame PennyMac its just that my wife, throughout the closing, was communicating with some people, I was communicating with some people and we couldn't seem to get on the same page about who were should have been talking to, and the various parities couldn't seem to figure out who should be the primary contact person. It made the whole thing stressful, but its no PennyMac's fault
the loan officer and the MAC officer took a great deal of time with me explaining the pros and cons of all the choices i needed to make. My expectations were more than met. The only slight glitch was with the closing documents which were fine except some spelled my name wrong. But the documents that had the misspelling were possibly not from PennyMac but from the title company. I think that’s what the lawyer told me.
It’s easy to criticize but first the positives: Nicholas Batten was simply great! He did everything he could within his domain to really help. He was patient enough to answer all my questions and walked me thro’ well. Scope for improvements: last minute requests such as job verification within 24-48h amidst shutdowns isn’t easy. Closing amount kept changing with every phone call and a big disconnect between primary mortgage with PennyMac and refi with PennyMac.
I requested calls from pennymac several times that were not answered. The closing documents did not reflect our last loan payment. The final numbers I have yet to see....but we are hopeful they will be correct. When I called in, several times, I could not get to my loan officer and the person I did talk to seemed to be little informed. Overall, I feel our loan officer did not keep us informed at all. If it were not for past satisfaction with pennymac we would have gone with another lender.

Nathan did a great job of walking us through the process, answering our questions, and keeping us informed. This is not on him but I don’t understand why there are always more documents needed. Why don’t just ask for everything upfront vs. having to go back and forth when we could’ve just sent everything in the beginning. Just overall feedback on the process.
Working with Nick made for an easy seamless process. He answered all of our questions quickly and promptly. There were no hidden surprises and our loan refinancing went very smoothly. Thanks Nick for all of your hard work, time and dedication.
There was some.lqck of communication as to where we were in the re-fi process because there was no loan status ever showing in our portal. That said whenever we asked, we received a response within 24 hours. Great service overall.
