Very smooth process for my VA refinance loan. I have dealt with PennyMac for the past 2 years on my initial home loan and everything has gone smoothly.
Ross Ahkiong is a credit to your company and a pleasure to work with. Everyone else was acceptable.
I don't believe the team did a good job of reviewing my loan - they automatically assumed I was a new customer, etc. A lot of times they would say it depends on if PennyMac will accept your loan amount or you as a customer. I had to remind them several times, I already had a loan with PennyMac - only refinancing for lowering the rate .50%. Knowing your customer and their situation is customer service #1 - overall it was a great process. Understand their busy!
I was informed closing costs would be a few thousand dollars, thus allowing me to receive more cash out money. Closing costs were in excess of $14k which left me with only a bit more than that. Very disappointed I did not receive what was first communicated to me. I understand the appraisal came back lower than expected, but $14k is a bit excessive. That is the reason I came back to penny mac instead of signing with rocket mortgage. My email questioning funds to me was ignored
