The doctors there are nice, but not the cashier, who seems to be very unhappy. The price is much more expensive than the San Jose Animal Hospital. Services like regular exam and fecal tests are all $10-$20 higher. The most expensive service that surprises me a lot is the heartworm test. They use something called 4DX and it costs me $180... But it shouldn't be $20 more than the normal $55 heartworm test. I liked this hospital as this was the first one I went when I moved to bay area. But I'll not be going this place anymor... read more

Business response:

Leana - We are sorry that you did not experience adequate customer service during your visit on Tuesday. Please feel free to call the clinic and ask to speak to the hospital manager, so she can hear your concerns and address them with our receptionist. The charge you mentioned for the heartworm test was for an entire lab panel, including complete blood count (CBC) and 22 serum chemistries, which was performed as part of Cubie's health assessment to determine the safety of anesthesia for the dental procedure you were discussi... read more

Well a lot has changed with this place recently I took my 11 year old cat who is the live of my life in to see if she was in fact sick well lab work is done that day also I'm told my cat has retinal damage in both eyes and later before a three day weekend the vet who was not my cats regular vet there calls me to tell me there was problem with labs that I needed to put her in prescription kidney support food which I did for at least couple of days and she said there was a thyroid issue as well we'll after crying entire weeken... read more

Business response:

Robin - As we discussed during several telephone conversations about Pixie's medical exam, I want to be sure you wrote down the information that we discussed so you can gather more information on early-stage renal disease in cats. Here at Pet's Friend, all of the doctors use the International Renal Society's (IRIS) guidelines for assessing laboratory values and remind pet owners that all treatments for kidney disease need to be tailored to the individual patient. Diet management is the first step in early-stage renal disease... read more

This vet clinic is very friendly, clean and professional. I do like the vets there. I am giving one star because they almost overcharged me $700 for my cats dental cleaning. First I was shocked by the price then asked my friends what they thought. They said to get a second opinion on the estimate. I am glad I did and was able to save that $700 which is a lot of money for me. Plus I was able to find another good vet clinic in the area. If you can afford paying good chunk of money for your pet then you will be happy with this ... read more

My cat had issues with her eyes and we've brought her for a check in about 8 months ago. The vet who saw us said that it potentially was serious and recommended us to see an eye doctor. She had cancer and we had to put her down. The vet from Pet's Friend didn't even care to call back and check in on what the condition was (given that we've been with her for a while before) and I keep receiving reminders for my kitty's vaccinations etc., this is absolutely irresponsible and rude. I understand this is just their work, but to m... read more

Dr. Moore is absolutely amazing, however we forgot to mention that my puppy had a fat pocket at our appointment 3 weeks ago and I asked if it can be looked at today during our 3 week shot booster appointment (that we had with the vet tech) and after waiting for 20 minutes as instructed, I was told that Dr Moore had just had an emergency come through the back (there is no parking nor back access that I'm aware of so this made zero sense). I was also told that it was not a "pop in" situation and I need to make an extra appoint... read more

After trying different vets in the area, I would say this vet is the worst experience I have had as a new dog owner. Shopping for a good vet is like trying to find an honest dentist. Lesson learned. 1 star- facilities clean 1 star- mostly friendly You can come here if you want to be RIPPed off. This is the most outrageous and overpriced clinic for spays at $800, I might as well spay two dogs. A lot of things that are optional, they consider it required within their estimate. I mean this location is convenient to where I l... read more

Business response:

We were happy to meet you and your cute puppy, Hashbrown, last week. We are sorry that we did not adequately explain that our estimate for the ovariohysterectomy (spay) includes steps to reduce the anesthetic risk as well as pain medication and recheck follow-up. Not all clinics require pre-anesthetic blood screening nor IV fluids during surgery, but we are committed to providing the safest environment for any pet undergoing invasive surgery. Cardiac ultrasounds are used to pinpoint the underlying cause of the abnormal heart... read more

While I think their vets are okay here. I couldn't stand that everytime I went in, it seemed to be a new vet. It's a bit bothersome when I'd have to go and talk to a new vet almost every other time about my dogs needs and concerns. Plus I don't think my dog quite got used to his vets always being different. My main concern is how expensive they are for no reason at all! Luckily I now see a wonderful vet at a reasonable/cheap price compared to all the vets around the area (that I've asked about pricing on or done an exam ... read more

Business response:

Anony - We are unable to identify you or your dog, but we are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. We take feedback from our clients very seriously and would be happy to speak with you directly. The doctors (and most of the staff) have been here for many years and work regular schedules, and we encourage pet owners to schedule appointments with the doctor of their choice. We firmly believe in fear-free veterinary visits and stress-free handling for all pets. We focus on client education reinforcing the importanc... read more
