After Palo Alto Pet Hospital closed down I searched around for a good vet, but nobody was particularly impressed with their cat vets. I finally got a recommendation for Pet's Friend, and late last year decided to go check them out. I've since been for annual check ups for all 3 of my cats, an eye exam for one of my girls, and an appointment for a rescue kitten with eye problems. I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Julie Miller, owner of Pet's Friend, for years (before she owned the clinic). She and her staff are compassionate and professional. I appreciate that she always informs me of the cost of tests and procedures before doing them. She also gives different options for care. I also board my dogs at Pet's Care when necessary. The facilities are the cleanest I've seen (I've toured many) and the staff 'visits' the animals frequently. They're also walked twice daily.
As an update...my cat never recovered and unfortunately I had to put her down. However, Dr. Long and the staff were so great. They scheduled the appt late in the day so we wouldn't face a bunch of people in the waiting room and let us take all the time we needed to say goodbye, both before and after the procedure. They didn't force us to pay that day, they sent a bill after and even sent a card that everyone in the office signed. I took my cat Butterball in this past Saturday to Pets friend because she was not any better from the treatments she was receiving from another vet The new vet Amy Long gave her an xray, and told me the reason why she was having trouble breathing was because her chest cavity was filled with fluid. Something that could not be seen in the other vets xrays( they looked like a 5 year old did them) She gave me a few options, one was to get the fluid out with a needle so it relieve her some of the shortness of breathe. I've been taking my Siberian Husky here since we moved to this area a year and a half ago. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable, and they know what they're doing. They've treated my pet for everything from routine checkups, random sickness, and even for an injury caused by a vicious pitbull who was off the leash and attacked him (I guess they're not as sweet as above reviewers think they are). I am so glad I found this place. The staff is very professional and caring and the office is clean. The vet was prompt, nice, and knowledgeable. It is such a relief to find a good vet for my cat.
The staff here is so friendly. My cat was FIV+ and they were so sweet and caring when her body started to fail. The staff has such compassion. They even sent me a card when she passed away. They are always willing to accomodate when I need to make a short notice appointment. It is so nice having some place close with weekend hours. I highly reccomend Pet's Friend
I recently had a scare with my beloved pup Hale...one day he was screaming in pain and I had no idea what was wrong. Hale is an Irish Wolf Hound this is a breed that has a lot of medical problems and they are also rare in the area so it is hard to find a Vet who is familiar with the IW's. I was extremely concerned for Hale as he has never screamed in pain before and was worried that he possibly had bone cancer which is common in IW's. A couple of years ago, my husband and I fell into hard times. Getting back on our feet was difficult. Through it all, our pets remained our good friends. Last year, the oldest of the two fell ill and had to be put to sleep. This year, the remaining pet also fell ill. I took her to emergency hospital the other day and they found that she had gall bladder stones blocking her urinary tract. I was told that she will need surgery.
