Their service was very bad. The heating system they put in broke down about three or four times last winter. They came out and fixed what they were supposed to but they never really fixed the underlying issue. I called their owner to resolve the issues many times; I left about ten messages and to this day he hasn’t called back. Their hours are very bad. One of the guy that worked for them was really rude. Their price was very good.

Business response:

This customer insisted on installation of a certain boiler make and model which we told them was not a very reliable product and one which we do not normally sell. Subsequently, the new boiler needed two replacement parts in its first winter of service. We responded to service call requests and got the boiler up and running three times this winter within 24 hours of each initial phone call.

promised call back never received, although I called twice. couldn't even schedule an estimate.

Business response:

We apologize we let this fall through the cracks. During the peak of season, and particularly the most extreme heat wave this summer to date, we were not able to get back to this potential customer. Our company goal is to respond to all inquiries, and we apologize we fell short in this case.

We originally contacted Polar Bear Air and Heating on 2/20 for repairs to our heat pump system. They were scheduled to come out on 2/21 to perform the repair, but were unable to make it out due to the snow storm. The reason for the 'B' rating on responsiveness is that we did not hear from anyone at Polar Bear Air and Heating on 2/21to explain they were not going to make it out for service. On Sunday 2/22, we received a call directly from the owner to explain the miscommunication and apologize for not informing us that his te... read more

Awfully. If a fuse is blowing there has to be a reason for it. Did the Polar Bear technician - one 'Angel' - look for the reason the fuse was blowing? No.
And today, one Katy spoke to the owner of Polar Bear, after which she informed my wife and me that they would not be coming out again.
Michael & Son, here we come.

Business response:

Polar Bear installed a furnace for this customer in December, 2013. When this customer asked Polar Bear to examine his air conditioning in June, 2014, our technician and office explained numerous times, verbally and in writing, that his pre-existing AC chiller coil has been leaking on his new furnace and shorting out the circuit board in the furnace. Our technician and office also explained that we don't service or install commercial AC chiller system coils. The customer refused to accept this. Polar Bear charged the custome... read more

Angel did a professional job in locating leaking refrigerant and replacing the coils. However, there was a mix up in the billing so I notified the office. Joe called back immediately said he would take care of it. That is all I can ask.

I hadpreviously bought a different heat pump from Joe for a rental unit and I have been satisfied with it. Joe will be my go to guy on future HVAC issues.

The blower fan for my A/C unit stopped working one night. I was unable to diagnose the problem myself because I have a package A/C unit on the roof and didn't want to scale an extension ladder. The technician came to our house within the time window given and quickly discovered an iced-over condenser. He shared pictures of the problem taken with his iphone. He told me to leave the unit off overnight and he'd return the next day to check it again. Again, he showed up within the time window, diagnosed that the problem was a di... read more

I called them and gave them my credit card number because I thought they were coming over the next day. The appointment was set up. I received a call saying they did not have the correct billing address. I asked to speak to someone else. Nobody called and nobody came to do the work.

Business response:

We contacted the member the day before the service call to let her know that the credit card company was unable to process the charge. We very politely called her back to ask her if she could repeat her credit card information, including the billing address, which was different from her home address. She was immediately defensive and angry and would not repeat any information. She stated "I want to speak to someone who does not have a writing problem, because you don't know how to write." We've made several attempts to conta... read more
They basically charged us for the visit, nothing was really done, except for the false report. This worker was a real rookie.

Business response:

It was our belief that this system's 20+ year old inside air handler had a blower motor that was shutting off on thermal overload. The customer wanted us to replace the blower motor, but we could not find a blower motor to match this obsolete, more than 20 year old system. We notified the customer of this situation.
