Very good cleaner, It works well, poolman review First, you must have a separate pump plumbed in for the Polaris cleaner or you cannot install this cleaner. It needs it's own pump to work off the pressure (return) side of the pool verse the suction (skimmer/side port) side. Polaris This polaris 280 F5 was a replacement of the same model that we have owned for the last 7 years. It ran and was always totally reliable up until the day it wore out. That is why we purchased the same model and did not opt for the newer improved versions because improved does not always mean the previous model is obsolete. Thank you polaris for the dependable products you make.
Basic Polaris Vac The Polaris 280 replaced a 30 year old original Polaris that had been repaired over the years but the plastic finally became too brittle. This one works fine but not as good as the original. No problems and the cost for the vac was appropriate. Absolutely no reaxson to purchase one of the more expensive models. Good basic replacement for the cost.
Polaris 280 Perfect replacement for Polaris 180. Easy to maintain and replace worn parts. Better than the 300 and 3900 series models. I replaced my 23 year old model 180 with it.
Polaris 280 This thing is awesome. Replaced a 4 yr old Hayward Phantom which was always breaking down and needing to be rebuilt. I have had this 280 for a month and it cleans better than the phantom ever did. I bought the extra sand mesh bag for it too, but even the standard bag picks up WAY more sand than the phantom ever did. I love this thing. I think the design and operation of this 280 is way simpler, and for that reason I expect it to be much more reliable than the phantom was.
What a Deal! I got a quote to refurbish my old cleaner at over $300. I also needed the new hose which was quoted at $150. The store told me a new machine would cost $599. I was cautiously optimistic when I saw this on Amazon at $375. I figured it was worth spending more for a new one. I was extremely surprised when the machine came with not only the cleaner, but the 30' feed hose as well! So I actually spent less money on a new machine, than repairing it.
