Mum was living in a retirement flat on the South Coast when Covid-19 hit, so she was isolated and became very inactive, without a formal routine to follow. Early in 2021 she suffered 2 strokes and a number of falls. We chose to move her closer to family members in May 2021, and after considerable research decided upon Portobello Place. My mum was recently a resident of Portobello Place, it was a difficult time for her, myself and my family following her diagnosis, however, the team at Portobello Place are truly outstanding! They cared so well for my mum and made her feel so comfortable and happy in her last few months. They also made the family and friends feel so welcome and comfortable during our visits there. Knowing my mum was so well cared for and looked after brings me so much comfort and I will always be grateful to the team for that.

My mother came to Portobello Place on respite after an unexpected fall. Their professional response to our urgent request for respite was exceptional, and she was treated with great kindness at a difficult time. For 6 months she has been cared for with thoughtfulness and affection and has now decided to make her stay permanent as she is so happy! Mum went into hospital due to having a fall, she suffers with dementia and we can no longer give her the care she requires, it is a very anxious time for the family. I can not thank Portobello staff enough for the care and kindness they have shown towards her and the family, mum does not hear very well therefore a telephone call is not an option. Portabello has been nothing but amazing with our mum. It's been a difficult time for mum and the family following mums diagnosis, but the team have made this so much easier to deal with by knowing that mum is safe, cared for at such a high level, treated and respected as an individual and made to feel so welcomed and part of the portabello family. My father was in Portobello Place for a few weeks respite, the care he received there was outstanding. The staff are very helpful and friendly and they couldn’t do enough for my dad (who didn’t want to leave). The food was excellent. This is by far the best care home for miles. I would definitely recommend Portobello Place to anyone.

My mum suffered a stroke in November 2019 and my dad passed away from Covid-19 in May 2020. My parents lived overseas and I had to repatriate my mum at short notice. Portobello Place were amazing in providing short term respite care while I found my mum an apartment nearby. Their standards are very high in all areas. The staff are cheery and professional. It was lovely to visit my Father today 17th July 2020 at the beautiful Portobello Place. What a fantastic setup, with lovely individual patio areas for the residents to sit out and enjoy. Dad is being looked after by very caring staff who are doing a fantastic job, all who are lovely ladies/gents who make time to update you on how dad is getting on. When we first drove up, we thought what a beautiful home. The careers were very kind and lovely. We had booked a visit to see my mum in respite, and they looked after us very well. Would definitely recommend this home.
