Wastes label tape by design (keep scissors handy!) Great label maker but for two related things. (1) No way to turn off a nearly an inch of “lead” blank tape before every label, which wastes tape. (2) To trim labels to the size you want, have to keep a pair of scissors handy, which kind of defeats the purpose. Bad design, by design, intended to enrich Brother by inconveniencing the customer. (Their own support article confirms this cannot be turned off, “due to the construction of the tape mechanism.”
Like others have said Like others have said, there's a lot of wasted tape. You can change the margins, but there will always be one long side, simply due to the location of the tape-cutter on the device. I always end up trimming mine to get rid of all the excess tape on one side, but it's an annoying extra step. I wouldn't repurchase this or recommend it. Other brands have the tape-cutter much closer to the end of the text.
Has many good features. The only problem I had with it Has many good features. The only problem I had with it, it did not accept the wider ribbon. It's limit is 1/2". I like certain items to be labeled in the wider ribbon.
Order lots of refills Overall great item but does use too much tape.
Missing Parts! I ordered this on June 7, 2018 for a work project. The cutter blade is missing so I have to waste a lot of tape in order to properly cut the labels. Replacement blades are $14.99.

It doesn’t come with the power cord! I wish I knew to order the power cord at the time I ordered the label maker. Now I have to wait to use it.

Batteries Does a good job. The only con is that if you don’t remove all the batteries when not being used they will be drained. You can’t remove 1 or 2 you must remove all of them.
