A perfect piece of halibut was served but for $40.00, it could come with a leaf of spinach!
Overpriced, average food. Surly service. Not our first time here but feeling more like Red Lobster than fine dining these days.
Excellent service. Shellfish appetizers were delicious. We were rather disappointed in our main entrees.
Red Eye is a traditional standby for me and members of my fellow performing arts groups at Carnegie Hall. Tonight was a true shock. The menu has changed. Prices are in the stratosphere. Who is the Red Eye kidding. It ain't Le Bernardin! In previous visits one could find an eclectic menu with, at the low end, hamburgers and a few pasta dishes. Now almost all entrees are $40 and above. I did ask the waiter about the menu and was informed that it had changed. I inquired about late night, one time entrees, and was then informed ... read more
Disappointing experience....small portions and very over priced. Not worth it!
Expensive. Brought wrong food. Steak cooked wrong.
The only saving grace for this over-priced "tourist trap" is that it is close to Carniege Hall. Like it's sister restaurant Tratatoria del Arte it is priced for tourists who unsuspectingly make their way up from Times Square.
Poor service from incompetent waiter who was forgetful & spoke poor English. Recent menu changes eliminated some favorites and changed others. The lobster cobb salad had so little lobster it didn't deserve the name; particularly @ $38. Red Eye had been a great choice for before Carnegie Hall, etc - we probably won't go back.
The main room was packed for our 6pm reservation, so we opted to dine in side room. We did not immed. order wine but chose 3 appetizers to share. When wine was ordered it was not served & we felt that since we ordered 3 apps we were given poor service. As for the food - the chowder, crabcake & quacamole for 2 were all good. However would not return as main courses are way over priced. As it was our meal was over $100 for w/1 glass of wine that was finally served.
