We chose Redeye for dinner prior to attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. Located just across the street, the location was ideal. The service and food were both both good but not great. We felt the food was overpriced for what is was. Although we had made the reservation a week prior, we were seated at a table for two that was small and barely tucked in between a large round with a big group and an empty table set for four. I generally like Redeye but the Mussels were off and the service was ridiculous. A tea bag delivered without hot water, food removed (or almost removed) minutes after it was delivered. Someone needs to check in and figure out what is going on over there.

While the food was ok, waiting one hour for the main course to arrive, left us with a bad taste. With the noise level so loud, trying to have a reasonable conversation to fill the void was difficult. The waiter raved about the guacamole cervice, however, the main ingredient was red onion. When we mentioned this, he smiled and walked away.

This had been one of my favorite restaurants. However the menu has changed with change of chefs. So the Schnitzel ala Holstein which used to have Spaetzle, now has ordinary mashed potatos.The caesar salad wichwas a delicacy od stalks twisted together on the plate is now a mixed salad with what-is-called caesar dressing. The rolls used to be fresh and were served by the server; now there is a basket of ordiary rolls. Etc. Thus it as lost ar least 2 steps

The service was pretty good. Friendly, polite and informed. A bit more time and attention would have put the service in the great catagory. This was my second time there. The first time the food was great, on a busy week night with the business crowd. This particular visit was a Sunday night and the restaurant was not particularly busy. I ordered a filet medium. It came out white and hot throuhout. No pink. Tender but not what I ordered. The "half a roasted chicken" (no other description on the menu) came out breaded and in ... read more

I have been dining at the Red Eye Grill for years. I brought my cousin, who is from out of town, to this restaurant because of my great experiences in the past. Unfortunately, my dinner was absolutely horrible!!!! I had the chicken pilliard with sauteed spinach. They pounded the chicken, cooked on both sides and slapped it on the plate. food was delicious but after eating off the Price Fix lunch menu I was shocked to see the prices charged for dinner. The appetizer and dessert were totally overpriced. The waiter was very nice but we could not understand anything he said including what the specials were. I would probably go back for price fix lunch but not dinner.
