Redeye Grill is a good but noisy standby in the Carnegie Hall neighborhood.They are so large you can nearly always get a table without a reservation and the food is overall good. Service is ok but not anywhere near as good as it used to be. Fish that was filleted at tableside (which they insisted on doing)was filleted poorly and many bones were left in. Food was very good, not spectacular; was disappointed in the "Dancing Shrimp" which is their specialty. Very pricey for what is served.
This is a nice looking restaurant and the service was attentive, but unfortunately, the food was mediocre. Drinks were pretty good, cold shellfish appetizer was fine, but the peking duck quesadilla was pretty awful, very salty and hardly any duck. Just mushy inside. The cobb salad, which was listed as the house specialty, was very ordinary, nothing better than what you would get at your neighborhood diner. Very disappointing food.
Table location was poor after having a reservation for over a week. Only 1 person in four truly liked their meal. We will probably not return to this restaurant when back in NY.
Two words: mediocre food. Need I say more?

The food was horrible and the service was even worse.
This was the second time we have been to the restaurant. The first time, my wife had the crab cakes & shrimp which were good & I had the shellfood one tier platter. The shellfish were good, but a bit pricey for the quantity. The second time we came to the restaurant, my son & I got the shellfish two tier platter which was more than twice as expensive ($79) with not much more food. It's usually a good experience, but I took a friend to lunch and it was horrible. We ordered plain burgers (just in the mood, usually I get seafood) and was told they'd take a while, around 20 min. We said no problem. We only had one hour. 45 minutes later, burgers arrived with bacon and cheese so we had to send them back and got the warning it would take a long time, but Only had 15 minutes left.
