Food was not impressive and yet expensive. Service was not good. We felt rushed--waiters kept trying to take away our food. I would not recommend this restaurant. It felt like being at a tourist trap. If you are a New Yorker, go elsewhere. There are many restaurants in NY that have a much better, more creative, and tastier menu at a comparable, or even cheaper, price than Red Eye Grill.
Food was ok. Nothing special though. Do not fall for the "Dancing Shrimp" signature dish. It's coconut shrimp that they put on a skewer and stick into a pineapple. Outback steakhouse has a better coconut shrimp dish. And at RedEye grill, the Dancing shrimp don't come cheap. Overall, it was ok. I don't think I'll go back though. Especially since it's not worth the money for what you are paying.
Surprisingly, the service on this visit was the worst of any restaurant I've been to in the last six months. The waiter was not attentive: he took nearly 15 minutes to greet us the first time, took another 10 to bring drinks, never brought bread (even after asking), and never checked on us during the meal (never refilled drinks, either). I was shocked because having been to the Redeye several times before, I had always had bad service. This will be my last trip there.
been taking clients to RedEyeGrill for a long time. I ordered the lobster salad and told the waiter no dressing and to toss with lots of lemon. After waiting for a long time for our meal, it came and was tossed table side with the dressing. I told the waiter and he did offer to replace it, but we only had 15 minutes. Then the bill came and we were charged - i barely ate it. Will not return.
Too much salt used in, well, everything. Deserts are gigantic mega-calorie concoctions. There are always kids in the restaurant, but no kids menu, although they will give your kid a cotton candy at the end of the meal, gratis. Basically, the menu needs to be modernized. Very 1980's.
food is overpriced.Ordered a crab cake appetizer that was tiny and it cost $17.
Hadn't been in a while. Will be skipping it in the future - other restaurants to try, and it wasn't good enough to draw us back.
Food was great, Ambience great, Service not so hot. My 8 year old daughter was to perfrorm at Carnegie and be there by 6pm. We asked the waiter at 5:15 If he could rush and said "no problem we know the show scene and do it all the time".. Someone ordered a well done burger at the table, and the meal showed up at 5:55. We were told the poblem was the well done burger. My daughter slammed down the food in 5 minutes and left. It made the special occasion less than perfect.
The clam chowder was superb. The lobster cobb was disappointing - very little lobster and expensive.
