Rio is convenient and has a lot of nice members, many of whom have become very good friends-why I stay. It amazes me the social "level" of people that have memberships here-many well paid professionals and people with lives. All in all, the club is a dump, I doubt there are any worse locker rooms anywhere in Sacramento-you could grow things in the shower drains if there were just a little sunlight-consistently full of gobs of human hair and god knows what else-organic for certain :( The lockers, even the ones one pays ext... read more
To management, any chance you guys could put towels in the locker room. Even certain 24 Fitness gyms (Super Sport) and California Family Fitness (downtown/Alhambra) provide gym towels. They have a shelf and put them in the locker room. I'm not sure why you guys have dirty towel bins and no gym towels in the locker room. The towels you provide is $2/per at Wal-Mart. We started coming here last summer, and renewed again this year. Our main reason is for the pools and swimming with the kids. They do swim lessons in the morning, and they are great. We have seen real improvement with our sons skills this year, and he is only 3. My wife then takes the kids to the onsite day care after swimming, and it gives her up to two hours to work out. Super clean, friendly staff and always a great time With the family. You can BBQ down there and just relax in the shade or sun. Our daughter has grown up at the club and swims on the team. Can't say enough!

This gym has Keiser bikes, a great sound system, and knowledgable cycling instructors. The classes have a range of fitness levels, from triathletes to new folks. If you want that fancy studio experience for a fixed monthly fee check Rio Del Oro out! You can also soak in a hot tub and/or take a yoga class afterwards.
I was a member here for about three months last year. I loved using the expansive swimming and tennis facilities. Club was clean, locker room was spacious, staff were always friendly and helpful. There are lots of kids/family programs here, as other reviews have noted, but plenty of well organized activities for adults to enjoy too -- I would say there's something for everyone at Rio. If I hadn't moved out of Sacramento I'd still be a happy member. Recommended highly.
I came here with the girls I nanny to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. Being that its nearly winter, it was very slow in the pool area. The girls and I enjoyed the heated pools and even more the super HOT hot tub. That was a real treat, and I could see myself spending hours just in there. After the hot tub we headed to the locker room, this is my only qualm because I couldn't figure out how to work the lockers in there.
