A friend of mine enticed me to work out with him at Rio del Oro recently and I enjoyed the experience. Brad is a bit of a night owl and works out late and it was so pleasant to not have to line up to use all of the cardio machines. It sure is an improvement on the 24-hour fitness clubs I've belonged to where the equipment is about 20 years old and there are no towels of rags to wipe the grime from the benches and seats. If you're interested in tennis or swimming this club seems to be quite the place to come to. When I have been here I have used the tennis courts only so I can't really speak to the quality of their weight room etc. However, the tennis courts are in good shape and they have quite a few of them. They have a centrally located lounge area so that friends of visitors may sit and watch the matches in progress on a number of courts at the same time. I just moved into East Sac last month and was looking for a place to workout and play tennis at and I had a friend tell me about Rio. We Love Rio!!! I take the kids to the pool as often as possible which was about 3 to 5 times a week in the summer. I enjoy it most in the morning before it's too hot out and around 7 when it starts to cool down. Evening picnics are the best. We pack dinner and eat outside while my daughter swims and plays. I'm so glad I decided to join this club! It's definitely a step up from the more mainstream gyms. Everyone on staff is friendly and helpful. The marketing gal gave me a really nice tour of the facility. I really felt like she wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the club and that is was a good fit for my schedule and lifestyle (as opposed to the other pushier gyms). This is a great gym that is never too crowded, towels provided, great selection of machines, weights, etc. I kinda don't like how you have to walk into a totally separate building to get to the workout machines & etc. The staff is friendly and helpful -- and the club has a great feel to it. Out of the Sparetime clubs I've been to I'd say that this one has the most families coming into it. I always see many kids running around and in the pools. It is probably the most busiest as well. I love this gym. The staff are friendly, people are fairly friendly, the place is always clean and there's great commodities- several pools, lots of tennis courts, two squash courts and lots of machines in workout room. The pool is a good place during summer too. They sell budlights for $1.50, so it's a good place to park it all day and work on your tan, swim, etc.

I have a disability due to an injury and when I signed up my membership I made it clear that my physical therapy professional had requested I walk in a pool lane for exercise. However Rio Del Oro has made my using a pool lane very difficult. The club's priority is not a member who pays dues. Their priority is kids with families to use the pool lanes. I need steps to get into the water and the club has definately ignored that as well.

This place is a scam! Canceled my membership in August of 2022. We were planning on going fall swim however after a death in the family we decided to take a season off. They sent me to collections without my knowledge. Called 3X (finally got a call back on the 3rd time) to talk to someone about joining the swim team however they won't let us until we pay all back dues which I will not do when I had to physically go down there to sign the documents to cancel the membership.
