River Oaks is so amazing and has literally saved my life for a 3rd time. The staff and community are absolutely amazing. I’d like to single out a few staff members that really helped me and got close to. I’d like to thank Kara my therapist who has helped me so much. River oaks treatment center is very up to date with there recovery methods. They’ll teach you coping skills and how to apply them. I had Andrea has my therapist and she was an awesome person to work with, they all seem to care about where your journey begins and where your journey ends!
This was great for me. I am a nurse and the professionals group was a great group to have as part of their curriculum. This facility staff were all great from the TAs to the therapists! My Therapist Ian was great and very good for my recovery
River Oaks saved my life. It’s that simple. From all of the group teachers, to the TAs, the doctors, the therapists, and all of the staff, my life is better for having gone to River Oaks. The person that mostly helped me the most though was my therapist Cami. I’ve never met someone who cared so deeply about my well being and my outcome from rehab. Anyone who goes here is truly lucky, but anyone who gets Cami will never be the same.
When I first got here this place was a total s**t show. I got sick in my detox room threw up on the carpet and was told my nursing to just throw a towel over it then had to wait 3 days before anyone cleaned it up. The food was the cheapest they could order and all the meat was heavily processed and bland. Chicken that was under cooked is what was served at least one meal a day sometimes two meals a day for days in a row. The group leaders were amazing, they made me feel comfortable enough to open up about my experiences and helped me gain my confidence back and learn to forgive myself. The people you meet here definitely are the best thing you will gain from this facility. I will say some of the nursing and TA staff can be hit or miss. Kristen, Cecil, Tonya are the greatest people here. They make sure you feel safe and are always helpful. The grounds are beautiful and you have plenty of space to walk around and clear your mind. Loved my stay here, I have been to several treatment centers and something was always lacking. River Oaks gave me the tools I didn't even know I was missing. The teachers are exceptional, we learn about how addiction effects the brain and the skills to tackle our negative thinking. I made sure to use everything RO had to offer. CBT, DBT and EMDR are offered here as well as AA, NA and Smart Recovery. You are given a therapist, a doctor and a psychologist all to aid in your recovery both mentally, emotionally and medically. This was my first time in Rehab…I thought I was coming to detox 5 - 7, and ended up staying 55 days. The 26 acre facility was like living in the middle of a park (old oak trees, a 12 step path, and the beautiful fountains). The staff was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging, they made group sessions engaging, safe, and allowed me to be vulnerable and share. Starting from the beginning when transportation picked me up from the airport, Larry in Transportation should be an ambassador for River Oaks! He was welcoming, approachable, informative, & curious about how to help me. He started my stay at River Oaks in the best possible way. 30 days after I’ve arrived, I still remember Larry & his warmth & kindness.
