The doctors were really great. They came up with a plan for me to help me get better. They really knew what they were talking about. They really spent their time to talk to me and educate me about the process. Dr. Rucker and Dr. Sina the addictionologist were very knowledgeable. There was so much that I learned. When I got here, I didn't know who I was. Now I have a plan and a support system in place for when I go home. I've got my meetings all scheduled and will be working with my sponsor to stay clean and sober. The Veterans groups were very special because there is a strong bond on top of a bond, it was just awesome and really helped strengthen my recovery. All the counselors were great, very knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions. I learned about how to manage my emotions and develop coping skills while building on my self esteem and new friendships. I felt such a sense of connection to the community with all the activities like volley ball and kick ball. I loved going to the gym and the whole community was really supportive. The therapists are great for the most part. One of the therapists, Trina, never seems to have much of anything planned which is frustrating, but otherwise they are pretty good; Ali in particular is great. The TAs and nurses are pretty nice too, as are the kitchen staff. I’ve heard some of the case managers are good, but I had Ricky and he did next to nothing, so I would recommend switching if you get him. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for this facility! Dr. Cina was by far the most amazing addiction specialist I have ever worked with in the almost 30 years I’ve been struggling. I wish I could bottle him up and take him with me. The groups were very effective and helped with my recovery greatly.
This place saved my life. I’d be dead off it wasn’t for River Oaks. The staff here showed compassion and I would definitely recommend it to anyone suffering from mental health or addiction. TA’s Shane and Mattie really helped me. James the Therapist taught me a lot about Border Line Personality Disorder. Karah my therapist helped me through a lot of my problems. Risha in the pharmacy tally helped me with my medicines. TA Mattie was a great resource as well as Keita, Tanya, and Jocelyn. Therapists were helpful in class and the community of clients was very supportive. Groups were very informative and had beneficial discussions. Therapist Travis has a wonderful professionals group. River Oaks gave me a different perspective. The facility was well kept, there were so many activities available for recreation. I would highly recommend this facility!
