My intake was smooth all because of the awesome intake nurse they had in there, Dre. This nurse is wonderful! he stays so calm and can turn someones mood around right away with his personality. He makes you feel comfortable and awesome. he was a great intro to the program and every staff member I met after him has been great too.
The ladies love that the male nurses dont give us attitude! Nurse Mark is totally amazing! He is efficient. always calm. and always has a great sense of humor about everything. Nothing can phase him and he knows exactly what he is doing in tough situations. I have total trust in him as my nurse!
They have house keeping and ncie rooms. Kind of like hotel style beds with two people to a room. The facility is huge and also very nice. My housekeeper Isabella. She works past the language barrier and is always so sweet and polite. One time, she washed my head phones in my clothes on accident and the next day I came to my room she had left brand new head phones for me. I will always remember that because it was a very thoughtful act of kindness that I havent seen in a long time.
Pete the maintenance guy is awesome. he stays busy! Always working and making stuff happen. He goes the extra mile for anyone and everyone he meets. He will literally stop what he is doing to help you and he takes his job fixing things very seriously. He's a great guy and just wanted him to be recognized.
Amisha always has her door open and you can tell shes just brilliant with all the knowledge she has about medications and helping me with some of my more chronic medical situations. I noticed she always has a great attitude and keeps things very personable, that makes me feel comfortable with her knowing I can talk openly about what im going through and she will respect me without judgement, shes just looking to help and thats better than I can say for a lot of the doctors and nurses I have encountered in past places.
The nursing team has been very respectful and assisted me through a difficult time getting over detox and finally feeling better to start my program going to class and to my therapy sessions. Nurse Frank was one of those people. His level of respect for me was always 100% and he has the ability to get things done. He takes his time and does not hurry you up or try to speed you through the process. He makes sure he does it right. I like that he is also super funny and personable. The groups have been very helpful to me in learning new tools and making progress in my recovery. Andy is one of my favorate facilitators because he has zero tolerance for cross talk. He is also hilarious with a great sense of humor. He has respect for us and is always very assertive but never rude, always polite. If someone takes something the wrong way, then he always apologizes and corrects the situation. I think he is a great model of what making mistakes and taking recovery seriously looks like.
My therapist is Amy and she always makes time for me, even if its her day off or someone needs help and they are not her client, she goes out of her way to genuinely be there for everyone she is able to help. She helped someone find a place to stay after treatment and she really listens to you when you tell her what you need. I know for a fact she cares so much for helping others and thats why she deserves commendation for an amazing job well done.
So many of the staff are extremely relatable at River Oaks. Many of the staff are in recovery themselves and will share their wisdom with you. I appreciate staff like Jennifer who demand respect, have clear boundaries, and can be very stern but helpful. I came here to get better and I like the structure that this place provides.
