The refinance process was not smooth. I have been a homeowner for close to 23 years. In that period I have changed residences (all within Illinois) three times and have refinanced mortgages few times. So this is not the first time around. I wouldn't put the blame on any one person. To me it felt the entire Team was not working in a cohesive way. There were occasions when I felt the loan processing team, underwriting team, and Robert were not talking to each other. Not a great experience.

The only time I heard there were issues is when I called in and checked on how things were going. Getting a hold of Robert took multiple attemps each time as well. My closing date was originally 08.03.2020, then bumped to 08.04.2020, and finally to 08.06.2020. Rescheduling movers, plumbers, electricians, and drywallers pushed back my move in date by weeks.

Robert is easy to communicate with before signing a contract. I had issues with him not replying in a timely manner once I signed a contract. He insisted that Go Mortgage should take prepaid escrow to pay my property tax bill, however I objected and communicated that US Bank would pay my taxes. Someone at Go mortgage collected close to $2,000 for a property tax bill that was only $1,500. US Bank paid my property taxes as I said they would and now $2,000 of my money is floating in space.

We did eventually end up closing on time, but I felt like I really had to press in order to get it done. The interest rate I got was really good, and it was worth the trouble in the end, but the process was a little stressful and not very smooth.

We were quoted the wrong amount and made out an official check for that amount, only to find they made a mistake and we had to write out an additional personal check for the difference. Not very professional in our opinion.

My husband had repeatedly asked for the final closing amount. Three times the number was verified by Robert. Then, when we received the closing documents the number was more than twice as much as had been verified those three times. With explanation we understood the difference in the charge. However, when my husband inquired about the final costs, Robert should have communicated the potential for much greater costs as the result of prepaid homeowners insurance, mortgage costs, etc.

Took much longer than expected. Initially was told I could update the rate if it changed significantly, that did not happen. Caught issues with my closing paperwork pertaining to amount of credit, had to notify that it was not what was initially agreed upon. Took over 2 1/2 months to close.
