The office is fine. Unfortunately, they sold their souls to some skanky corporate conglomerate. You can no longer reach the office unless you want to hear a long, unending and incredibly obnoxious advertisement for this corporation that just repeats and repeats and repeats (they want you to schedule via AI). Very Disappointing and Incomplete Care I had a first-time consultation with Dr. Joel Crockett for a skin issue. The entire visit lasted barely 5 minutes. I was prescribed Opzelura (ruxolitinib) cream 1.5% for use on my face, a powerful immunosuppressive drug, with no real explanation about the condition, the medication, or how to use it safely. I was scammed here by incorrect billing. Free annual skin check by my health provider ending up charging money. The 3 minute check for $147.73 bill. My health provider offered FREE skin cancer annual check. I found the CSI info on my health provider website and called to book an appointment for the FREE skin cancer annual check. There's a reason this place has such low ratings. I booked through ZocDoc two weeks ago. I took time off work to come in to have this appointment. When coming into the extremely cramped office I spoke to a woman with two nose ring studs explaining that I had an appointment. She mentioned it was self paid and I informed her that I was using insurance. Dermatology at California Skin Institute, Castro Valley; Joel Crockett, M.D. Prior to today 07/09/2024, I had a favorable view of the Castro Valley office of California Skin Institute, Joel Crockett,M.D and staff. However, I received a call from the office staff today asking for a large payment because they told me they made a mistake in my charge. Very pleased with the care I received today from Alicia. I had some lumps and growths removed from my face. Alicia determined the types of issues I had in each case and the proper treatment. She was knowledgeable and thorough in her explanations. She did some additional checks for other skin problems and gave me advice on self care. I have a follow up appt. scheduled and further treatments planned.

I called many many times tried to schedule an appointment for my son, left messages with the office. Finally, Melanie called back but I missed it. I called them again. After waiting on the phone for almost half an hour but couldn't get a hold of anyone. I gave up. It is so so difficult to talk to someone to schedule an appointment. I guess I need to look for another dermatologist!

I can't even get in contact with anyone. I booked an appointment on Zocdoc only to find out through voicemail that they don't even have availability. Tried calling them back multiple times, left a voicemail with my name and number. Still have heard back from them. I guess they're doing me a favor because I wouldn't want a provider who I can't get in contact with.
