I get broken capillaries all the time and needed to find a facility with a laser to get it zapped off. I almost passed on calling the California Skin Institute based upon the negative reviews - and I'm glad I didn't. I left a message and they called me back within a few hours. Completing the paperwork online was a breeze and when I arrived a bit early for my appt they whisked me back. The office staff were kind, engaging and professional. Awesome experience. Was a bit intimidated to have my face zapped, it was my first time. Staff and MD were reassuring. Office environment is pleasant, well decorated. They have great customer service, they pick up the phone and its easy to schedule an appt. I had a very early appt to do a touch up and they gave me some numbing cream to take home so i could be ready for my follow up laser appt. They did my touch up for free too. Happy with the experience. Should add my sunspots are definitely better.

My provider provided me referral to this location last Tuesday. I called Wednesday I was placed on a 15 minute hold and then the call was dropped. Call again multiple times no answer left voicemail. I called Thursday someone answered immediately told me to hold another 20 minutes on hold. Called Friday multiple times no answer left about three voicemails. Call today no answer went straight to voicemail. I will need to call my primary care physician to receive another referral.

After 3 or so visits over the last 2 years, I finally went to someone else because I just got tired of their front office staff. They rarely answer the phone, and for me - it always goes to voicemail. Then you'll get a call back the next day - maybe. Last Fall I made an appointment through their online appointment system (because the front office never picks up.). Got a text confirmation for my appointment. This place was an absolute NIGHTMARE. I saw Dr. Wapen and I am very disappointed with the service. She always seemed to be in a hurry and very dismissive, and talked over me every time I tried to ask a question. I had to start a program for accutane that required a monthly visit and release for my prescription. To give you a bit more info about how this program works, basically after every visit the doctor needs to go online and allow me access to answer some questions and then they need to release the prescription. I've gotten lip fillers at 3 other places. I always see a noticeable difference in my lips. After seeing dr. Crockett, i saw ZERO difference after he gave me one full syringe? The whole process took 10 minutes whereas at every other place i've been they take at least 30 minutes. I feel extremely ripped off!!

Covid issue. Mask wearing and staff. This was my experience this morning at Skin Institute in Castro Valley I was there for a suspicious mole check: Asked for first appointment of the day made sure they knew I'm immune compromised. Came in receptionists mask was under her chin. She put it on for temperature check. Put it right back under her nose. I was really uncomfortable and worried. I look up, mask off again. Horrible experience! Im a first time patient. They said they have sent the prescription to the pharmacy. After leaving the office, I find out the pharmacy have not receive my prescription order from the office. I called office and left several messages that day and the following day Friday, which they were off. I had the pharmacist call to see if they can talk to the on call physician. I've had Botox and fillers in the past and was fine with the results. But with Dr. Crockett I love the results. He doesn't over do it, which is what I've been looking for. Great job! It was my second time here and I will definitely be back again. Thank you so much Dr. Crockett!
