I rsvp'd a birthday brunch for my fiance and we drove from Atlanta and it was the best experience of our entire weekend. They sat us outside as requested, gave my fiance a complimentary birthday dessert and best of all - the pianist played the 'Happy Birthday' song for my fiance! It was such a beautiful and thoughtful gesture. The waiter was attentive and the manager was very accomodating. The view was spectacular. Our first visit to Ela's Blue Water Grille was outstanding. The swordfish that I had may have been the best swordfish I have ever tasted. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, fresh like it may have been caught earlier in the day. My wife's scallops were also delectable and the cocktail and wine list was very good, as were the dessert choices. The location was very nice with a dramatic view of the length of Shelter Cove. We arrived in Hilton Head for a week with friends and were staying at Shelter Cove. We had reservations elsewhere (which we cancelled) but were too tired to drive anywhere so we decided to check out the restaurants at Shelter Cove - there are 5-6 of them. Ela's looked nice and had a nice view so we went there and were we glad we did. So glad we ended up eating there 3 of the 6 nights we were there. Great and reasonably priced drinks at the bar. Disappointing. Starting with a hostess that didn't smile and ended with an "extra" item tacked on our bill. Food was good, but not great. Nothing inspired here. For the price, there are better options!

We did wait until our last night on the island. What a mistake, the food was perfect, good selection to cover picky eaters from meat only no veggies person, to seafood lover, to a three year old. Covered outdoor seating overlooking Shelter Cover Marina was delightful, excellent wine list, perfect cocktails, and outstanding service. I'd go back i n heart beat - but wait, I waited till the last night so I can'tt go back.

We'd read and heard great things about Ela's but unfortunately for us, it didn't quite live up to expectations. We were initially seated in the main dining room which has a cavernous ceiling, causing a very high noise level. We asked to be moved and were shortly seated at a better table. (BTW, ask for a table on the deck when making a reservation. They look fabulous, but we couldn't get one.) I have been to Ela's several times over the past few years. The ambiance is so nice. The food selection is good and varied. The service is attentive. I would recommend an outdoor table to enjoy the view of the harbor. the best time to go is before sunset.

Fabulous dinner. Staff was attentive and accommodating. Scenic view to compliment our meals Crab cake a must 97% crab meat. Tuna sushi grade, melt in your mouth! We will definitely return!!!
