So disappointing! The location and view are great and the menu looks great, but the food is terrible. Our oysters were still frozen and my lobster tail was so tough. My son’s mussels smelled so bad that he couldn’t even eat them. We won’t return. Too many restaurants with fresh food on the island.
We were celebrating our daughter in law Birthday. Not one person said Happy Birthday. We put it on the special occasions.My husband never was offered a refill on his ice tea. Sorry. Food was so overpriced.
Table wasn’t ready until 45 minutes late...food was ok at best
We had the most amazing waitress Rachel but the good review stops there. They ran out of two dishes we ordered and the kitchen and managers failed to tell our waitress. When we found out the entrees were no longer available (15 min after we ordered) two managers came out and were very unapologetic. One read from a piece of paper and the other made a snarky comment about how we had a reservation for 6 instead of 7. Meal was delayed, steaks were both over cooked, asked for sauce twice & came after done with meal. Desserts were good. My Raspberry cosmo was actually delicious. Manager gave us $25 credit. Ate there last year and was good but haven’t had a “great” overall dinner experience at Ela’s on the Water yet. Outdoor seating has a vey pretty view.
Horrible. Two children ran freely in our sitting area (by window overlooking water) and played in my friend’s hair, leaned on her chair and kept touching her. The waiter’s response was I’m sorry. Children also caused the same waiter to drop a tray of drinks due to their running around. We spoke with the manager before leaving and once again the response was we’re sorry we are not a kid restaurant. Nothing comped or given. Horrible customer service.
One entree had a spoiled lobster topping.
If you need anything special to accommodate food allergies, go somewhere else. However, if you like the menu as is with no deviations or changes, it might be OK. French fries were soggy. My friend had shrimp and grits that were only just OK.
We have been to Ela's before - for one reason - the great outdoor dining on the harbour. The food is good but nothing special and over priced. You need to know you are paying for the view, and that is acceptable at times. They don't always honor your request for an outside table. That can be a problem, once they put us in an inside corner as far from the windows as possible, to the point you felt as if your table was in a storage space. We should have gotten up and left.
