We've eaten at Ela's before & were pleased. This time we waited an hour for our food after watching other diners who came in 20 minutes after us receive their Eggs Benedicts within 15 minutes. This was the same thing we had ordered earlier. When our food arrived all four orders were cold. We informed our waitress but nothing was done. Upon leaving we informed the manager and he apologized, but seemed pretty disinterested. The four of us, who are local residents, will never return to ELA's. We pity the unwary tourists.
Host was not friendly at all and borderline rude. Seemed to roll down through wait staff as well. Better value on the Island elsewhere.
Food was great Service was poor I requested an outside table - i saw 4 tables free but o was not given an outside table - saw people come after me get one Waiter never came to my table for 15 minutes - then I ordered a drink and apetizer - he never came to take dinner order - I asked for a check and left / he then asked me why I was not having dinner with them Seems like this place has a reputation and don't care About all of their customers - this was my second visit as it was recommended but will be my last Improve your se... read more
Brunch was ordinary, served cold and service was slow. We had to hunt waiter down for check. So Dissapointed .
Over priced and dried out food! Slow service and poor menu choices, very disappointed, the only enjoyable things were the view and the lovely keyboard player.
We were shown to a table in a corner with no view. When we asked to be moved the hostess was very perturbed. Ella's has a lovely view with most tables. Then she offered another table in a corner with no view and totally alone. We eventually had a very quick dinner in the bar area. Service was good after that. Food was good. Smaller than average portions.
We traveled to Hilton head to try this restaurant. My husband ordered the lobster bisque. I tried it, it tasted very good. However, on my husbands second taste, he found a piece of wire in the soup. He had to leave the table to alert our server of this problem. It was determined that it was a piece from a cleaning sponge that had been leftover in the pot. Very good food but the service felt unwelcoming. Maybe bringing my two and a half year old had something to do with this, but he was very well behaved and we still felt as if we were unwanted at the restaurant.
Server was terrific. Food poorly cooked. (Under cooked lobster and veal chop) Bus boy was poorly trained and not interested. Other than server, folks were somewhat rude and put out by returned food that needed more time on the grill. We had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner and experience at Ela's, so this was particularly disappointing. Restaurant seemed generally poorly managed for the crowd. Christmas eve, very busy and overwhelmed kitchen perhaps.
