The Sunday breakfast used to be much better. It seems like all the food on the island has gone down hill over the last year. Sadly, Ela's is no exception.
The restaurant had a beautiful location on the marina overlooking the water. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. The server and hostess were friendly and they helped accommodate my child's dietary needs, as he has food allergies. The food, however was mediocre. Small portions and high prices. Had grouper sandwich, $16.00. Didn't seem to have much seasoning OR taste. The lettuce on the bun was thicker than The grouper. Were locals, would not go back OR Recommend to others. Basically a tourist place.
So disappointed....had to send things back twice and then finally cancelled. My scallops came out at first with a sauce I had told them to hold, and then I sent them back and they came back cold and raw. At that point my husband had finished his $32 mini crab cakes that were a little bigger then a half dollar. Will not be returning
I am allergic to scallops and shellfish. The server went out of her way to be accommodating and check on which foods would not have contamination. Too bad the kitchen wasn't as careful. My memory of Ela's will unfortunately be a bathroom and toilet and not the food and wine.
We were visiting and booked this due to good ratings. Huge disappointment with lobster bisque that contained not a single piece of lobster and tasteless hollandaise sauce for our eggs. There were two tables eating at prime time on a holiday weekend brunch, so obviously locals know this place is way past it's prime.
Poor service - makes or breaks a meal. Great appetizer and dessert. Average main course
Very poor service! Took my wife there for Mother's Day. My Scallops were very good . My wife's Black Bass was terrible. Seemed over cooked. She couldn't go on so we shared my Scallops. Overrated! So many better places . And no one asked how it went $125.00 later? Not very good ! My f I knew I'd taken her to the Hilton Head Diner.
I have been to Ela's twice before once for dinner and once for lunch and both times were great. However, the Mother's Day Brunch was AWFUL. Food was cold, small portions and not much selection. VERY disappointed. I was the one who made the arrangements for my party which included my Mom and sister and I'm upset that the experience wasn't so great. My sister actually sent her's back it was so cold. Our bill was over $200.00 and it wasn't worth it at all. Oh well, at least the view was pretty.
