The food is the "fancy tiny portion"'type but isn't that good. Very expensive, but tasteless. The atmosphere is very 80s and its in a very odd location (in condos and above a store). The server kept calling me "Madame".... I'm a 36 year old mom eating at 5:00 with my kids... No need for that.
Having not made plans for our dinners on HHI, I turned to OpenTable and found decent reviews for ELA's. We arrived on time but the very limited parking had me dropping off my dining mates and off in search of parking in the adjacent condos. We had scallops and crab cakes. Everything was room temperature. The scallops had risotto that was tasteless and soup. Crab cakes had fishy taste. Pretty overlooking marina but that was about it. Nice server Katarina. Had date night before at Sage Grill where food was superb over the top. Disappointed in our food and same price as Sage.

I had been looking forward to visiting ELA's for quite some time, but our experience on Easter Sunday was a bit disappointing. First of all, we were seated at a table against the wall, near the kitchen, when there was actually a table open right near the window. I should have spoken up immediately, but I didn't want to begin our meal by complaining. First time at Ela's and yes it will be our last. I started with 1/2 dz oysters which were so tiny I could not believe they cost 12.00. My wife had oyster rockerfeller which were under cooked and very mushy. For dinner I had the slightly seared tuna which was over cooked and needed a knife to cut. It was removed from our bill after the manger looked and tasted. He acknowledged it was not properly prepared. My wife had crab cakes which were very bready. Not a restaurant I would recommend
The portions were small and overpriced. The lobster bisque serving was shallower than the soup spoon. The "jumbo " crab cake was fair but only two inches in diameter. The wine by the glass serving was the stingiest we experienced at Hilton Head. The service was lukewarm. We will not return.
6 of us went there for dinner. We all enjoy a great meal and fine service when we go out and we definitely weren't disappointed. Jason was knowledgably about the wine and food options. Nothing we ordered was disappointing. We were lucky because we had both the Valentines day menu and their regular menu to chose from and everything we had was unique and full of flavor. Thanks for making our pre Valentines Day dinner a memorable one.
