Anniversary dinner bust (it wasn't a complete disaster, but there were enough annoyances that you couldn't pay me to return). First, glasses with ice came out and were immediately filled w/ water. This restaurant had been recommended by a friend. We knew we were in trouble when we were seated and no one came to the table for another 10 minutes. They had a prom group upstairs and for that reason, service in the rest of the restaurant suffered. There is really no excuse for this, since the restaurant has been around for many years and should be able to staff correctly for such an event. The shrimp cocktail was quite good. We dined at Ela's on Saturday and went back on the following Thursday. On Saturday, everything was outstanding. On Wednesday, we (6) all ordered the lobster bisque (again) and it came out tepid. We sent them all back. Upon second try, the bisque was overly salty. Not understandable for something that is supposed to be one of their specialties.

We chose Ela's for our last night out before returning home from Vacation. We put in the reservation that we had done that, and were surprised no comment or recognition of any kind. Food not great. We were buried half way down a flight of stairs. Felt like the waiter had forgotton us. Disappointed.

Very good food and location/views. Service is terrible. They brought out appetizer at the same time as our salads. Then, within a few minutes our entrees came. The server said she could keep them warm in the kitchen for a while -big deal. When you are paying these prices you expect better. Then our waiter never returned to our table to check on us until we were finished with dinner. Never asked if we needed any drink refills (wine). Normally a very positive experience had but unfortunately the Easter brunch menu was very poor quality - items were sold out (the quiche) and the lamb was very over cooked and lack flavour.

I am a frequent guest of Ela's as I've had wonderful experiences but my last visit was the exception. Our reservation, through Open Table, was for 6:00pm. We were told we could NOT sit outside because Ela's had so many reservations! What?? When ordering, I requested the scallops entree, a favorite. The server came back several minutes later to say that Ela's had run out of scallop's....it's 6:15 and Ela's opens at 5:30!! That's crazy! I was extremely disappointed in our experience - I had selected Ela's based on readings and word of mouth. Our food was "ok", our service was "ok" and the ambiance was "ok"............not wowed at all. When the waiter suggested the featured wine of the day after I had said the house pino grigio - he failed to mention that it was $16/glass and I ordered 2.
