Very over priced for the quality of food.
These folks need to get serious if they are going to make it. A great view on the water will only get you so far. Chicken Pomadora (sp?) pasta was full of pasta cooking water and had no flavor, whole flounder was fried (did not say so on the menu), diver scallops were good but the risotto had enough salt for the entire table. For a Monday evening, the manager did an AWEFUL job scheduling table service. Our waitress took care of most of the floor, including outside. Everything took WAY too long - from cocktails to dessert. Appetizers were fishy - and entrees were overcooked! This is supposed to be a five star restaurant - no matter what day of the week it is - the location is in the middle of beautiful Hilton Head Island - VACATION VILLE - so provide EXCELLENT FOOD and SERVICE everytime your door opens.
There are many other better restaurants on HHI. Try them, just not this one.
far too loud-my ears were ringing afterwards for hours. the waiter said it was always like that. the food was mediocre and over priced. might want to plan on going soon--doubt it will be open long unless drastic changes occur
I initially booked online, but then 'phoned to change it to the following day. I asked for an outdoor table as it was a special event, and was told everything was changed as requested. It wasn't - the restaurant had recorded the date change but not the seating request on the system. Lesson is that staff find it difficult to change online bookings. extremely slow food service. It was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy but not at capacity so 50 minutes to get one's food seemed a bit excessive!
I had heard so many good things about Ela's, however, I was very disappointed. The food was definitely not worth the price. I don't mind paying extra for extra special food, but there was nothing of the sort. I had the crab cakes and they had no seasoning at all. When I asked to substitute the sweet potato puree instead of the plain potato puree I was told no the chef wouldn't let us because he knows what side dishes goes best with the main course.
