After being referred to Solar Optimum by a family member, we hired them to put solar on our home in OC and install a Powerwall. The proposal process was smooth and the sales person was knowledgeable. I had solar optimum install a Tesla power wall to go with my solar panels. They sent unlicensed and untrained electrical technicians to my home. They did not know what they were doing causing my kitchen electricity to fail. To try to fix the damage they caused, they sent another electrician out who cut a large hole in my wall of my home and damaged numerous electrical switches. . Solar Optimum was good at first until we started the installation process. Once we started the installation process, the price quickly changed from what they promised and their were minor things that needed to change. We've been with this company for several years and sure, the beginning process was smooth. However like any product, things need maintenance. And the service after is just ridiculous. I am not specifically calling out the technicians. But to get a call back from the only person that can make the scheduling for the technicians is such a frustrating process. Solar Optimum did the assessment of my house roof and declared it not ready for solar panels. The cost of roof replacement was not in the budget so I cancelled the project. Its 2 months since cancellation and they have not refunded the $1000 deposit. Multiple calls to the company was responded with statement that management is reviewing the cancelation policy. Solar Optimum multi million dollar company is treating a customer in this unethical manner is mind blogging. Please refund the deposit if you can not deliver.
The singularly worst customer service experience we have ever had. We are now 20 months into this ordeal, and still do not have a working system. We were assigned a project manager who made multiple promises and assurances that were not kept (even to the extent of providing certain documents). We requested to have a new person assigned to our project, only to be told that wouldn't happen. Two months later he was no longer with the company, and we were never assigned a new person. We've been flying blind since then.
I spent quite a few hours working with a quality employee of this company and everything seemed great until it got to contract time. Then not 1, but 2 (35) page contracts for battery and solar! They were sent it to the Attorney and guess what. BUYER BEWARE! There are to inexcusable clauses in their contracts that could cost the buyer thousands! I would leave 0 stars if I could. Install went smooth. Fast forward 1 year. Multiple panels were bolted into the ceiling not into the rafters. Major leaks in multiple areas. The dude handling the issues, Alex is useless. Constantly stringing me along. Work is supposed to be warrantied for 5 years. I had this leak since the beginning of the year and still trying to get this fixed. Fuck this company! Can't speak for other companies, but I would avoid this company at all costs.

This review could be extremely long in the amount of issues I had with Solar Optimum. But I'll cut to the chase, Solar Optimum had multiple third party contractors that did an absolute horrible job. Everything from not showing up on the wrong date and times, then showing up on random days to deliver the equipment, then dropping the panels in the back of the delivery truck, then cutting holes in my brand new roof that were later patched because they cut in the wrong spot, then spray painted the electrical conduit on the panel... read more
