This place was SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I came in with some nausea, a u.t.i. as well as some fever. My nurse Marissa was very kind, that is until it was time to draw blood. I told her my left arm was okay for veins but my right one is the go to for an I.V. She assured me it would be okay and began to draw blood. As the blood was being drawn, I began feeling the needle move around causing significant pain. This the worst Medical facility in Austin. The staff does not communicate well with the patient at all. My daughter delivered at home and EMT recommended this hospital for the one on one care they give. Well the care they give because its a hospital and they will diffiently get there money, caregivers No. The staff in Labor and Deliver started off wrong with no commication/explanation and/or listening skills to the patient or family. If you have a choice, avoid this ER. Discharge report includes prescriptions provided but not medications given in the ER (this info should be provided for the follow-up with one's own doctor). Had to ask for lab report--why isn't that automatically provided? (again, one's own doctor needs this for responsible follow-up). And my doctor's office requested culture results and never got them. Straight up, first and foremost, avoid this hospital at all costs. Do not let them even get ahold of your name, because they will send you endless bills after you have paid in full and received a confirmation number from their billing department. After paying the bill in full and receiving a confirmation number from them, we were told they "refiled" our claim (no insurance changes were made) and sent us more bills. Billing department has the worst customer service or rather, the department LACKS customer service. Having worked in health care billing and collections for over five years, any insurance adjustments and payments should be readily available. Yet, when asked for specifics I was told to contact my insurance company directly. I will never come to this Medical Center again. It's the most poorly designed, neglected medical facility I've ever been to! You have to park in a dark dingy parking garage with terrible lighting and no signage. While driving downward and downward, you will pass about 2 floors worth of "Physicians Only" parking. Basically, Dr.'s get the best parking. What this says to patients coming to this facility is "Dr.'s are more important than patients here." Not cool. I am a medical professional and have been in the medical field for over 17 years. NOTHING about this entire experience has met my expectations. Honestly it was a shit show from the first night of admission when the nurse refused to let my wife start pumping the night before our scheduled C section. It was approved by our OB, it was approved by our specialist, it was strongly suggested from our lactation specialist. This apparently went against the nurses personal opinion on the matter. I delivered here twice only because this hospital is affiliated with great OBs. The first time I delivered here, the nurses ignored my concerns about heavy bleeding and I ended up with a blood transfusion. They let me hemorrhage for a good few days before testing my blood count only to find that I had lost half my body's blood supply. One of the nurses even condescendingly suggested that I had low pain tolerance as I hemorrhaged.
