OK this review is actually in two parts - let's just say my trip to the ER was five stars, and it dropped a week later to perhaps one star, but here is why. I ruptured an ear drum - the ER was an in and out, 20 minutes tops, a referral to ENT and a script for Tylenol 3 - basic, and very satisfied (it was off hours and hey, I was bleeding from my ear, my PC said to go) Great, many nice things to say - that was 3-4 weeks ago. Greetings.. I was at the North Austin St. David's Hospital for 11 days (12/1/2019 to 12/11/2019).. I had numerous problems with the care I received, I tried to resolve the issues with the hospital one by one and the hospital refused to do so.. (Maen (Mike) Abul-Saud, RN. CPPS Risk Manager (512) 901-2515 ) Unlike private insurance, Medicare refused to put a hold on any payments to the hospital until all my issues were resolved and referred me to an appeals process, post payment.. It's taken me pushing 3 years to write this because every time I think about the treatment I received there I nearly get sick. I was admitted for a hysterectomy due to the fact I had a 2 pound fibroid. I was 71 years old. Due to the size of the fibroid I couldn't have laparascopic nor DaVinci surgery. Had an appointment for a 4:00 MRI; arrived at 3:30, as they requested. Sat in waiting room for 45 minutes before questioning the delay. A lady behind the desk said she would check. She never came back. Finally, as I sat there furious, the director came by, obviously going home for the day and asked if he could help. I explained the situation and he disappeared. The wait in the urgent care is terrible. I would see the doctor sitting on computer and carrying on with her thing. It's would have been easier for her and everyone if they would see patients and wrap that up quickly.
When I wrote this review and posted it on google, I was still in severe pain, as I am still....my points were suppose to be the wait time while I sat there and bled from the head for almost an hour and the fact that this doctor did not do a CAT scan or an MRI to check for a concussion, and yes I know I said I didn't think I blacked out is no reason to not do those tests. FRAUDULENT!!! I gave my son's Insurance information back in November and the billing department failed to run it through his insurance. It has been 6 months of me calling N pass then St. Davids billing department and telling you all to run it through aetna, not blue cross. I had blue cross blue shield but I was under my Mom's policy so my son was not covered the first 30 days of his birth through my insurance, but he has his own which is Aetna. I called Aetna and they denied the claim because St. David's failed to file it... read more

St Davids massively overcharged me for a simple kidney stone ER visit. Specifically charged me over $9000 for a simple cat scan which was unnessary. Calls to billing department get insincere apologies and -0- action. I asked for a full audit but they have ignored my request--most likely because they know they are in the wrong and do not want the public to know they routinely overcharge selected patients. I have given birth 6 times with no anesthetic but my kidney stone last night was the worst pain of my life. St. David's got me right into a room and one of my nurses was a good person but the other nurse was a gargoyle. She kept sticking things in my face and yelling at me for objecting.
