Specialty did a replacement of the baseboard heating in a house we purchased in 2007. The upgrade was a complete HVAC system with a heat pump. After the upgrade (which was part of a full house remodel) we noticed that they had installed a floor register in front of a sliding door on the opening/sliding side which has allowed excess dirt into the flex duct they installed. They also installed the heat pump next to one of the master bedroom windows. We could live with these issues, though it shouldn't have been done. Recently ... read more
This company doesn't want to fix anything. They only want to sell you a replacement system, an entire system to be specific. They want you to pay for parts that don't need replacing. Our experience was that the technician that came out started the sales pitch before getting within 20 feet of the system. This company borrowed their sales tactics from greasy car dealerships. They make a lot of money selling you a brand new system and are not interested in doing what's right by the customer. Do what we did after our experience ... read more

We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with the services provided by our team. Our main goal is to always provide our customers with options and choices to resolve their home comfort needs. Based on the notes in our system you contacted us because you recently had your ac system fail and had the system filled with refrigerant by a friend in the HVAC business. When calling us for service the system was low again on refrigerant again leaving you with no cooling. The age of the ac system is 15 years old and currently ... read more
I am highly disappointed with the service provided by Specialty Heating and Cooling. We had them install a new furnace in July. The bid was competitive with others I received and I really enjoyed my interactions with our sales advisor Nic. He did a thorough assessment of our needs and equipment and took accurate measurements. He was professional, courteous, and arrived on time. This, along with my coworker's recommendation, tipped the decision in their favor. The problems started during the installation, The install team ar... read more
THEY WERE ON TIME AND THE SERVICE PROVIDER SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING BUT... I had a new furnace and a new air conditioner put in by Specialty heating in October of 2017. The first time I used the air conditioner was the summer of 2018. It didn't seem to cool the house. I called specialty heating and they sent out Rob a couple of times to track the problem, I honestly thought they had sold me too small a unit for my house. I had an electrician that was putting in an outlet in my garage point out that the wiring ... read more
I had a thermostat replaced under warranty. I was told on the phone there would be a $170 diagnostic fee and, if a new part needed, another visit to install at a cost of $100. Tech arrived with part and charged an additional $373 installation fee for a total of $543 for a part under warranty that he snapped in and out and took less than an hour. Josh lied about potential costs over the phone. Their prices are outrageous! Over $500 per hour.
I wanted to set up a preventive maintenance appointment but they refused because they don't work on systems that have an HRV. I tried to explain to the guy who answered the phone that this is a totally normal/boring Carrier residential system (2-ton AC, gas furnace, etc...) but NOPE, they won't touch it because it happens to have an HRV. HRVs aren't weird--you won't see them on old drafty homes, but for homes that are built tight, some kind of mechanical ventilation like an HRV is actually required. I'm in shock--this is ... read more

This is an unfortunate situation, we had a newer service dispatcher who was unclear of your request. He put you on hold to ask some clarifying questions from another team member and when he returned back to the line it was disconnected. We are more than happy to assist you with your request. Please contact us back at the office and ask for our service manager. 503-620-5643
We recently had Specialty Heating and Cooling come to our residence to service our central air conditioning as part of a pre-paid service. During his course of checking things over, the technician found that the dual capacitor was bad and repaced it. I was charged $197.04 for this capacitor and the labor to replace it (disconnect wires from the capacitor - - the technician had already removed the access panel as part of the service). The same capacitor is available for a price ranging from $15.68 to $30.76. Even with a s... read more
If I could do zero stars I would. After 3 visits and over $600 they wanted over $300 more. I called another company and they found a loose wire. That was the problem. Not the part they replaced. I called the manager who explained that they stand by their repairmen, no matter what. No matter how much they overcharge, apparently. Run away from these frauds.
AC quit working and I called Specialty Heating to repair it. $450 to diagnose and replace a capacitor. The notes and communication were choppy. Capacitors sell for less than $30 and it looks like a 10 min. install. 2 weeks later the AC broke again and the repairman indicated we did not pay for a full repair - just an immediate fix. He provided a $3000 estimate that includes a $600 diagnostic fee for repair not replacement. I wrote the company and did not receive a reply. We are replacing the unit and not using Special... read more
