Never Again! Total Ripoff! Furnace died 2 hours after the tech left. Charged me $183 to replace a $12 transformer (took 15 minutes) and $174 to install a $3 fuse ( took 10 minutes). I also paid $130 to diagnose the problem for a total of $488. Wanted to charge me more money to come back and fix my dead furnace!! "Hey, it was running when we left, not our problem." They diagnosed and repaired a secondary issue (blown transformer) without isolating the root cause, which was a visibly burnt igniter wire shorted to the chassis... read more
Our furnace stopped working. Contacted Specialty since they have 24-hr emergency service, and we even suggested that we could wait until tomorrow. Turns out they couldn't get to us until next week sometime.

We apologize for not meeting your expectations. It is unfortunate that we were not able to earn your business. During normal circumstances this would of not been the situation. We have had the flu going around the office with several of our technicians out limiting our service ability.
Unfortunately, they did great selling us the furnace; however, the install and the follow up was horrible. It was one thing after another and a year later during the annual follow-up it the horrible customer service continued. Don't be fooled by the sales...ask a lot of questions about the install and follow-up. I would not recommend.
In 2007 SP&C replaced our old-fashioned furnace that had worked without a problem for 25 years with a modern, high-efficiency condensing Carrier furnace at a cost of nearly $5000. They did not explain that it only had a 5 year warranty. The duct upon which they placed the new furnace had a large, unsightly dent in it from a car which had struck it in our garage. I saw good reviews on yelp and called them for furnace repair. Technician came out, thought the secondary heat exchanger was bad but was not sure. It was under warranty, but after calling his main office, he said warrantee doesn't pay enough for labor. Quoted me $900-1900 (my part, after warranty) depending on what they find, and because it is an older system, suggested I don't waste money on it, and recommended I buy a new one. Absolutely horrible service. Booked an appointment three weeks ago for a tune up. Called the day of to confirm we were still on, as their inspector was an hour late, only to find out the company canceled the appointment ... never told me they canceled (no voicemail, no missed calls, no emails to warn).. and then proceeded to snap back at me about how they aren't sure what went wrong but that they "..aren't responsible for making it 'right' ". Stunned. Don't waste your time on these guys.

I hired Specialty Heating and Air based on their great Yelp reviews. My furnace had stopped working properly, the fan was stuck on even with the thermostat turned off. Specialty came out to look at it and said it was simply the manual switch located on the fan switch. The tech said it was in the on position. Funny thing is, in order to get to the fan switch the front cover must be removed. So how did the switch get turned on? Maybe it's not that simple of a fix? Installing non OEM parts in a furnace that is beyond its design life (average furnace life is less than 20 years) can be a huge liability for any heating company. We recommended a new furnace as the proper solution and although we understand that parts can be sourced that might work we do not recommend doing so. After recommending Specialty to everyone I know, I'm beginning to rethink that approach. On July 4th my parents AC goes out. I wholeheartedly recommend Specialty to them for service and a replacement unit if needed. We are in the middle of a heatwave so they call them immediately and are told a technician can be out the next day (Sunday) and they will receive a phone call with a 4-hour window of when someone will show up.
